  1. Looks a lot like a tube but the other end is blown off. I would say you could get some great action with it as a wacky rig if you wanted to use it like that. That would look like something the bass haven't seen in awhile. They may crush it.
  2. Fluorescent colors like plum for deep and darker colors like watermelon seed or watermelon red for shallow. Those choices of colors have really helped me in the tournaments as far as not wasting time or money on certain colors.
  3. Exactly, don't go west go north fish around the ice or in deep channels, ditches, or road beds. When I fished up north, all it took to get a good bite was to find a depth change and there just so happened to be trees which holds heat.
  4. Fine is for like those clear water conditions, it looks more natural. The medium would be for more stained, it shows up better in the murky water.
  5. Those look really good. May start using those. Thanks guys, just wanted to not waste time on one or the other.
  6. Would a soft plastic frog like a Ribbit or would a popping frog like spro work better as far as getting the most bites?
  7. Tennessee will have their days again. Just like Clemson needs another De shuan Watson. I mean Kelly Bryant is a good Qb but he can't do like Watson did. You could always pick Florida gators. They need Tim Tebow back. This is football I'm talking about though.
  8. Abu Garcia will always be what I fish with for as long as I fish. That will be my first reel and my last. Now rods.... that's a different story
  9. Good Luck, The wind is very bad. When I was motoring around looking for some areas in yellow creek, I had white caps coming on the deck. My boat would nose dive into the waves. I suggest life jackets at ALL times..
  10. Live bait. Artificial: Soft plastics.
  11. I fish high school tournaments year round. It probably doesn't mean as much coming from someone younger than you but maybe this helps. That's exactly what I do. It takes a lot of pressure off so you can focus on those giants. Even when fishing for quantity I get big bites. I fished a tournament last weekend at Pick wick and the length had to be 15 inches. I was catching 12s 13s and caught a lot of 14 and a halves.. That's my luck though.
  12. I just got done with a High school fishing tournament there launching from JP Coleman state park. We were on them but they were all short striking our baits. We could get them all the way up to the boat and they would just let go. I guess they were just hanging on to their tails. Our biggest ( 9 pounds) came from a shallow lay down. That's where the quality was in the morning. The water was murky and they were shallow warming up. We were catching most fish on t rigged lizards watermelon red and spinner baits. We got top 15 outta 100. Good luck out there bro.
  13. Welcome to BR!!!You will definitely learn stuff from these forums. I have learned a lot from what little time I have been on here.
  14. Wow, thanks. I'm probably gonna go towards the jig side. I use them a lot more. Thanks @Jig Man
  15. What are the basics for making Jigs and plastics? I would like to start making my own so I can make what patterns I want or color variations. Most stores where I'm from don't carry very many colors.
  16. Abu Garcia for life!!! Abu Garcia Revo x
  17. We have dog wood everywhere in my part of Mississippi. Bass are on beds and my line and hooks have been wet for a few days now. Caught quite a in the 3-6 pound range. No giants yet...
  18. Jerkbaits!!! Good luck bro. Just go done with my tournament.
  19. I'm definitely gonna be throwing shad baits at Ross Barnett for my tournament.
  20. The only thing I could think of would probably be that when a fish bites at the lure, they hit towards you. I don't know if that affects it coming off or not. When I was fishing them last week, when they would hit it there would be a lot of slack in my line and I couldn't keep up with the fish even with a 7.4:1 gear ratio reel. Maybe that helps.
  21. From what it looks like, it looks shallow with the most abundant cover being grass. I would throw: swimbaits, punch rigs, Texas rigs, lipless cranks, frogs, and maybe even a jig. As far as colors go for those baits, I would go crawfish color for the spring, black and blue muddy, white shad colors. Watermelon seed or watermelon red. for semi clear to clear. I see two or three creeks running into it, maybe the fish are near those areas. Tight lines!!!!
  22. Sounds great, I know from fishing in Florida that they love black and blue. Yeah just stick to that simple chart and you should catch, no you will. Good luck bro. I'll do some looking at that lake and tell you what I think will work.
