  1. A few months ago, there was some talk on the SC DNR forum about some folks catching Smallies in the Broad river near downtown Columbia. I think they were wading out into some holes and catching them there. ** MODERATOR NOTE ** This post was edited. 2. I've got a 16 ft BT and don't have any problems.
  3. I've lived here for about 6 years but now live in Ala. My favorite place to eat is Sonny's BBQ at exit 40 1.5 mile off I-85 in Powdersville. Favorite Mexican place is On-The-Border at exit 54. Next to OTB is a Joes Crabshack, Macaroni Grill, Cali Dreamin. Haywood Rd near the mall has a few places. If you are interested, there is some quaint little places to eat on Main St Greenville which is a nice place to walk downtown near the Reedy River. Easley, SC is centrally located and be a decent choice to stay and eat. Don't know where though. About everything there is along Rt 123. Lake Hartwell is really low and some ramps have been closed. The lake is about 30 miles from Greenville. We've been getting some rain though this month.
  4. I haven't had much bad happen at the ramp yet. The only thing I'd say if you head back to the ramp and there is a boat or two near the ramp, watching the ramp, not fishing, then guess what? They are waiting their turn to dock. THAT DOESN"T MEAN YOU BARREL YOUR BOAT TO THE DOCK AND TIE ON! >
  5. Uh, what was the question? ;D
  6. Yep, I went for a 2+ hour shakedown on the Tennessee River on my new (used) boat and it ran great. I checked the prop afterwards and it spins easily w/o a sound. The shifter must have been off neutral.
  7. Thanks so much! I feel better now.
  8. Congrats! Be sure to show us some fish when you get on the water!
  9. I just bought a boat recently with a 2001 40 HP Merc. When I spin the prop by hand, it makes a ratcheting sound. I just rode on my buddies boat and it's silent (but also brand new). I drained the lower unit oil and put in fresh and didn't see any abnormalties. There's no signs of leaking after running it about 10 minutes last week. Do I have a problem or is it just not as tight as a new motor and it's normal? The prop shaft has about 1/16" play (fore-to-aft). Thanks.
