    <p>
    Born in the summer of 62-graduated from high school in Center, TX. in 1980. My Dad (Tony Lovell ) 1919-1995. Bass Fishing guide on T-Bend & Sam Rayburn, mostly. There were also some clients we outfitted to White Bass fish in the Spring on the Sabine River North of T-Bend, and 350 miles South to the Guadalupe River outside of Victoria, TX (The old "Swinging Bridge" site)and Tivoli,TX at a stretch of river just upstream from where the Guadalupe River pours into San Antonio Bay-Many of these trips 10x/yr.-(from1970 to 1995) I would "tag along" as deckhand and, camp "help"- setting up the campsite, attending to the live bait, running lines, landing and skinning the Catfish, and often just catching a cooler full of Blue Crabs during my spare time. We usually had a goal of catching 500 lbs.- with a PB record trip of 750Lbs.-skinned and dressed Catfish in 3 nights of fishing, w/many huge Blue and Flathead (Op's) topping 60lbs.,w/1 Op that weighed just over 100 lbs.. We also hooked into many giant Alligator Gar like 275-350 lbers. that would come up alongside our 14' alum boat like a dinosaur, explode in a shower of water (clients loved it!) and never slow down, either straightening out the 7/0 SS hooks or tearing off the whole limb we'd tied the 5 hook drop-lines attached to.- An amazing place as an 8 year old boy, & all along the way gaining a wealth of knowledge about terminal tackle, river fishing expertise, on into my 20's it remained pretty much a wild jungle river adventure! Fishing became my passion there, and then later I added Bass Fishing - a whole long story in and of itself! I have a 24 yr.old Son  USAF based in England and Greece who'd eventually take to fishing himself. Raise 'em up right, creating a  new legacy of passion for the outdoors!

  1. I have a 12' "2-Man" boat (BASSHUNTER120) with a 56 lb. bow-mounted 12V trolling motor, (and oars). I am considering using it to trout fish with light spinning tackle in a slow-moving river (i.e. no rapids, no white water, etc- just a slow current). Has anyone else with 1 of these types of boats used theirs for river fishing?
  2. I found one of this lure's harnesses and have a pic of it on my fb page
  3. No, Dad's 15+ was not entered-Unfortunately. I had caught a 14+ lber. GIANT from Pinkston Reservoir (Blk/BLU Stanely JIg w/a Blue "Red HAWG" Pork rind split-tail lizard as a trailer and slathered the whole rig w/some softshell crayfish scent I think was made by Mr.Whizkers (?)-Although I made every attempt to keep her alive as this particular year Honey Hole Magazine was offering a huge reward (50K?) for the largest Bass caught by a subscriber to this popular magazine. Alas,she "expired"-the Taxidermist later told me the Bass's heart had "popped"-most likely during the battle w/her and never stood a chance of survival. Dad calls me up one night a few years later and says "Well, I got you beat!" (I instantly knew what he had "beat)". So, I asked "how BIG was she?" Dad says ,"15.02 on certified scales!" (at a local butcher's shop). It was one of the proudest days of my life to hear Dad describing his catch. Dad called the lure's co. mfg., and they wound up sending Dad a whole box/kit with several lures and 5-6 bags of lizards, and even put his pic w/the huge Bass on their brochure. I'm still on the quest for that Buzzing Lizard's name, etc. The lizards were 10" and the company made them extra beefy w/a wide tail (w/holes in the tail to create even more action-bubbling,vibration etc).- I hope I can find that lure's name! But, the company, mfg. may have been closed or sold out (?)Thanks for the response, and any help would be appreciated.
  4. In the early 1990's my Dad caught a 15.02 Largemouth on a lure I'd like to know the name/maker,etc.- It was a big Lizard that was attached via the offset hook to a very small buzzbait blade. Any ideas would help me track it down again. The giant Bass was caught from a Shelby County TX watershed lake of only 25 acres. We caught a lot of BIG bass out of that little Honey Hole on this lure as well as several over 10lbs. from nearby Pinkston Reservoir as well. What was that lure called? Thanks for any information.
