  1. Not a purchase by me - but a b-day gift from the wife (a week early) Too late in the year to give it a water-test, but it actually feels good in the hand and seems to be well balanced. I like the slate-gray color of it too. One thing I noticed is that the blank 'peeks' through the handle. The way I grip my rod, I'll have a finger on the blank at all times...I like it.
  2. I've gone braid to leader on all my spinning rigs....almost eliminates line twist issues and I seem to get longer casts.
  3. 6x4 - fits 5" stick worms and pretty anything that's 5" or less in length. 4x4 is my other main size for my finesse baits. Those two cover 90% of all my plastics.
  4. The larger units Stratasys made were used by General Dynamics to prototype things like landing gear for new aircraft. While it took a couple days to print one out, it was much less expensive than prototyping by metal fabrication.
  5. I know a bit more - I worked the assembly line at Stratasys for a while as a temp...they're one of the leading manufacturers of industrial 3-D Printers. I know how to put them together, but not how to use them....wasn't one of the QC testing group.
  6. I don't fish tournaments cause of the crazy rules - like polygraph test, which has been debunked more times than I can count and the Justice Dept states that they can NOT be used as evidence in court trials...need we say more. Also, I do eat bass...I'm a follower of Al Lindner's "Selective Harvest" mantra, so I will occasionally keep bass in what I consider the eating range. Now I do fish for other species...walleye and panfish to be precise...but bass put up a good fight, especially if you're using lighter rigs.
  7. Willing to sell a batch of a dozen or so?
  8. That's the exact dolly I have....still a pain going over grass and the large lip...gotta rock it several times to get it up and over. Which is why this winter's project is a powered dolly...I can probably use some of the parts from this one.
  9. I built Bass Trek to my specifications instead of finding a boat that met 'most' of them Searching for a rod carrier for shore fishing....none of them met my needs, so I built one, Finding a motor dolly for sale that met my requirements for height/width was impossible...so I built one. Every time I use a reel that I made the carbontex washer for...and they work perfectly, I grin to myself and think "I did that!" and feel a sense of pride. So don't diss us by calling it 'a waste of time'...cause to us it's NOT a waste of time...it's an investment in our self-worth.
  10. Far as I'm concerned - after Tyson took a piece out of Holyfield's ear, he should have been banned for life.
  11. It's not that hard to make your own Items needed Carbontex Sheets - can get off Amazon Calipers - to measure diameters and thickness of your original washers - even cheap Harbor Freight ones will work Circle cutter - to cut the main discs out - Any craft store Drill - open the center hole to proper size - if you got a Ryobi or similar, just need some bits X-Acto knife - clean up the inner and outer edges - craft store again Block or semi-thick sheet of basswood or balsa - do all your work on this Cals Tan - THE grease for carbontex washers, as the old jingle went "Just a little dab will do you." Measure your washers Cut out with circle cutter - don't try to do in one pass, you'll want to gently do this so will take quite a few passes....might even need to replace the blade before you're done Center hole drilled out - there should be at least a divot from the circle cutter's base point. Gently clean up with the X-Acto Just a touch of Cals, massage in, wipe off any excess. Repeat as many times as you need for a full stack. Mount in reel - don't forget the steel spacer washers or the order everything went.
  12. Original bags or bait bags purchased HERE - then stashed into Plano 3707-10 or 3607-10 single compartment boxes by type - Senkos in one, curly tail worms in another, craws in another, etc.
  13. Bass Trek is in the unheated garage, rods on the rack in the 'Fishing Room', reels in the storage drawers, tackle boxes on a shelving unit. misc items (spare PFD, tool box, etc) on shelves. Motor is on a dolly in the basement, I plan on doing some maintenance on it. Starting battery in the basement, TM and 'house' battery left in boat on charger. Trailer up on jack-stands, come spring, I'll re-grease the axle bearings and fill the tires.
  14. I dunno about Andy, but I use the Rapid Solutions Line Clips
  15. Well, considering I probably won't have the chance to be anywhere near one, I think I'm safe, Russ.
  16. GSM Outdoors acquired Dobyns back in May of this year. Known primarily as a hunting company - SOG knives, Halo Optics, Ameristep Blinds and more - they've started acquiring fishing brands like Bagley, Bill Lewis, Big Bite Baits, Northland Tackle, Phenix Rods and others....latest acquisitions are Dobyns and Yamamoto Baits.
  17. Other than Air Force Basic Training, and fly in visits to SE Florida - furthest south I've been is Kansas City....so never ran into one. Trying to remember the name, but I know we stopped in at something like that on one of our trips to Kansas....I think it was in NW Missouri....
  18. As well as dropping all but the Monarch and President XT from their baitcasting line....which is a shame as my Patriarchs are excellent reels despite being years old. And they've severely cut the number of Mitchell reels as well....their Avocet line was also a good reel (I have 4 Avocet RZTs)
  19. Good luck in the tourney, man...and be safe out there. What is that? A cut-rate Denny's?
  20. With Abu it's more the parent company trying to bite off more than it can chew and lacking enough funds for proper marketing of all the brands. Current brands owned by Pure Fishing (as of 9/29/2024): Abu Garcia, Berkley, Chub, Fenwick, Fin-Nor, Frabill, Greys, Hardy, Hodgman, Johnson, JRC, Mitchell, Penn, Pflueger, Plano, Savage Gear, Shakespeare, Spiderwire, Stren, Ugly Stik, Van Staal Talk with Rather Outdoors - they acquired the Quantum brand as well as Zebco a few years ago, They also own Strike King and Lews.
  21. No, but FryDog has praised them, and having met Chris face-to-face a couple times and chatted, I trust his opinion.
  22. B-Tard - I was being tempted by a Phenix Feather and now you drop this on me? You're taking bribes from the Bait-Monkey, aren't you....
  23. ALF's Black Friday sale has begun. 25% off Dobyns 30% off Sunline 40% off Berkley and lots more... https://www.americanlegacyfishing.com/promotions/2024-promotions/black-friday.html
  24. ^ PD - Same with the ProLatch 3701 - I've got a quart-sized ziplock stuffed full of spare dividers as well as 6 'strips' uncut from all the extras they include.
  25. I've sent e-mails to Plano, Bass Pro and Fleet Farm (they also have their own box) and everyone says that they do not sell dividers. It's strange that the 3700s come with a low number where-as the 3701s come with an excess number. I'm pretty sure that everyplace has Plano make their boxes - the Bass Pro and Fleet Farm boxes have their own logos on them, but are marked 'Made by Plano' on them.
