  1. Same here - which is why I went with a canoe. Last year it was the canoe, TM, battery that ate most of my Christmas money from the parents. This year it was the trailer and costs for the modifications I did...still have to get a new length of 2x3 to replace the trailer tongue piece to lengthen it - 14' canoe, 10' trailer as shipped. The only debt I have is my mortgage - everything else I pay cash for. If you can handle being under debt for a boat for the next 10-15-20 years, go for it. I'll happily paddle/power along my lakes knowing that I'm not paying for something that sits idle for 5+ months of the year.
  2. Who picked out those 'cute' sox?
  3. To keep them moving at a decent speed, you're going to be working harder with a 6.3 - have to move the reel handle faster.
  4. For spinner/chatter/buzzbaits, I'll be using my President in 7.3 if that helps. Putting 20# Power Pro on it.
  5. I'm still not seeing the wish list on the main page.
  6. For me, finesse fishing is with 3/16oz or less. For this I use the Avocet rig with 8# mono. Whether it's Ned, Wacky, light T-Rigs, or drop-shot, I keep the weight light. Heavier than that and I move to the Trion, President or Fuego depending on weight and circumstances.
  7. Okay, the e-mail I got didn't mention this. As I had a number of items in my three wishlists, I'm relieved that I won't lose the information...rebuilding them would have been a nightmare.
  8. I though the one they had was pretty good myself - I had three different ones set up and adding to the one of my choice was fairly simple. Not really any different than separate wish-lists on Amazon.
  9. I sent an E-Mail to their support on Saturday - got this response yesterday "Thank you for contacting Tackle Warehouse. Due to technical issues with our wish list we have turned it off until we can rectify the situation. As soon as it is available we will have it up and running. We apologize for any confusion and thank you for your patience. Please e-mail info@tacklewarehouse.com or call 1-800-300-4916 and one of our customer service representatives will be happy to help if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you for choosing Tackle Warehouse."
  10. Another quick Google search - about 12 years. Chart on pages 5 & 6 of this report. https://www.fishandboat.com/Fish/PennsylvaniaFishes/Documents/BlackBassManagement.pdf
  11. Last year Lake Minnetonka was declared ice-free on May 5 - tied for the latest ice out ever. Hopefully this year it'll clear off sooner - of course now I've just jinxed it...
  12. Another forum had Pflueger making the Johnny Morris series. Only way to know is to ask...though I doubt they'll answer.
  13. I dunno about the rules, but I'd consider it cheating. You're suppose to be fishing from the boat...keep both feet in the boat unless you fall overboard into the drink.
  14. I dunno how much you paid for that piece of paper - but that's all you get From the IAU - https://www.iau.org/public/themes/buying_star_names/ "The IAU frequently receives requests from individuals who want to buy stars or name stars after other persons. Some commercial enterprises purport to offer such services for a fee. However, such "names" have no formal or official validity whatsoever." So it's cute, and your S.O. get's something pretty - but nothing more.
  15. Quick google search and I found this. Full size image Here - http://media.pennlive.com/wildaboutpa/photo/cropped-crayfishjpg-0e6b4cbe84c13805.jpg
  16. And everything in between with a little leeway. 3/16 to 7/8 isn't out of the question though I'd probably not go for the 7/8 on that rod personally...I'd pull out my heavy rod - 3/8 to 1.5.
  17. True flipping/pitching is tossing the lure into heavy vegetation. The power of the rod and the strength of the line isn't for the fish alone, it's to allow you to pull the fish out from those weeds without breaking the line. My flipping/pitching/punching/frogging rig is the Fuego CT-XS on the Heavy/Fast Diawa Aird-X with 50# Power Pro. With the amount of milfoil in the lakes I fish, I need that power to pull the bass out of that mess.
  18. This took me a bit to decode but... 1/2 = 4/8 so yes, it's heavier than a 3/8 (fractions) And yes, the lightest rating for that rod is 1/4 (2/8) and the heaviest is 3/4 (6/8)
  19. I never go anywhere without my Leatherman.
  20. Eeww - I never buy reels in bubble-plastic...always boxed. If it's in the timeline of the store's return policy...they should still take it back if it's not functioning properly - they'll get their money (or an exchange) from the distributor.
  21. Funny - pretty much all I use is Rapala...maybe all the one's I've bought over the years fall into the first category as I've never had the problems you outlined.
  22. 4 spins is a lot better than 1. It might just need to be loosened up by use. I got mine last year and it's got a good 50 casts/retrieves on it as it's my light crank/jerk reel (3/8 oz and under).
  23. Does it sound like a 'woosh-woosh'? Despite the sound, you should get much more than one handle rotation from a good 'toss' of it. Try a good cleaning - maybe the gear-grease is a little gunked up. If that doesn't fix the low-rotation issue...then it's a bad reel and need to be traded in.
  24. I just did that test with my Trion-30. I get about 9-10 rotations of the handle and a slight whirring sound from the rotator. If you're getting grinding, I think you got a faulty one - return it for replacement.
  25. For most of your first list - I'd go with a MH/F rod paired with a 6.6:1-7.3:1 reel The frogging would be the exception if your tossing it into weed-beds. There a H/F rod with an 8:1 or faster reel...this would also be a pitch/flip/punch setup. The spinning reel - a ML/F rod paired with a 1000 or 2000 size reel unless you're finessing into heavier weeds, in which case a M/F rod would be better. I'm not suggesting specific rods/reels as I don't know what your budget is. There's decent setups across a wide range of costs.
