  1. 2 lengths of spinning rods, 3 of casting and only one power/action for each of those 5 rod selections. Very slim pickings and there's plenty of rods by others in that price range that cover a wide range of length/power/action selections.
  2. Add three rigs and that's about what my total haul over the winter was. Not to mention the canoe mods and the new trailer.
  3. Might want that looked at.
  4. I saw a couple guys out on Emerald Lake today - next few nights we're going to have below freezing temps...so it's not over yet here.
  5. Looks at the pics of 12Pound's local lake - looks at the pics of his own local lake...whimpers
  6. Out for some errands and stopped by one of my fishing holes. Have to still make holes if I wanted to fish it, but there is signs that it won't be long. Dutch Lake - 172 acres
  7. I went with the Cabelas Advanced Angler Tackle bag. Holds 6-3600 size boxes in the main compartment and one more in the front-zip compartment. Will also hold a 3500 in each of the side compartments. The shoulder strap seems well made and should hold up for a long time. It's the one on the left in the pic.
  8. Swimbait, Whopper Plopper, Pitching/Flipping. With the new rigs and a gift of a couple WPs, I'll be giving those last two a go this year.
  9. In my experience - comparing older rigs that balanced further forward that I've retired to the newer ones. The difference in stress applied might only be a few ounces, but over a day of fishing those few ounces 'add up'. One of the reasons I upgraded all my rigs was for better balance as my wrist was less tired after a day of fishing with the better balanced rigs. It might not make much difference to you...but to my aged muscles it makes all the difference.
  10. I lucked out with this, bought the rig as a combo. Used it last year and was pleasantly surprised at the quality...Mitchell did good with this one.
  11. If there are thunderstorms in the forecast, I'm not going out. No matter what, I wear my PFD from the time I launch until the time I land.
  12. Oh why not - all my rigs balance around the same point. Here's a shot of my Finesse rig.
  13. Welcome to the boards. Sit back, grab an ale and learn - that's what I've been doing.
  14. As @Glaucussaid, a bit long - but workable for Ned Rigs and Drop-Shots.
  15. I may not have as many as some here, but I do try to keep them organized.
  16. Got that straight...hopefully ice-out will be at least a week earlier than last year. The way the shore-ice is retreating on Minnetonka, it's probably a safe bet.
  17. I know that what I like as a balance point, others would not. Everyone has individual tastes, so everyone's rig would be different based on that personal preference.
  18. Ya, it's for the same idiots that shampoo labels have "Not for internal use" on them.
  19. Gotta read the fine print - for example: In Minnesota, Type V inflatables are NOT legal while operating PWCs. "Inflatables are not approved for use on personal watercraft or while water-skiing or similar sports." http://files.dnr.state.mn.us/rlp/regulations/boatwater/boatingguide.pdf Page 19
  20. While the USGC sets the base standard - each state can make the laws a bit tougher. Your state may indeed NOT include Type V - no matter what the USGC rating is - as a valid PFD under certain conditions. Check your state's regulations - don't rely on the manufacturer's statement.
  21. Make sure you order from a 'drop shipper'...someone besides Amazon who fulfills the order. That's how I ordered all my rods from Amazon - all came in a hard tube with plenty of air-bubble filler to protect the rod.
  22. It doesn't help that the temps don't know what they want to do.
  23. Looks at update - looks at 10"+ of ice on local lakes - starts crying.
  24. Those are designed to mount to the stabilizers on a standard motor. With the vectored-thrust jet-drive of a Sea Doo, you don't have that available. It'd have to be a 'hull-mount' for it to fit.
  25. I have to agree with this. Got my canoe last year, 6-1/2' bed for 14' canoe. Used an bed extender and it helped...but carting all my gear in and out of the canoe to load/unload was a pain. That's why I got the trailer this year. Keep all my gear in it as I store it in the garage. No loading/unloading of rods/tackle needed...haul it out of the garage, hook it to my truck and go.
