  1. That's exactly when my two back-lashes today happened. Right after a lure change...minor adjustment to the brakes and away-we-go.
  2. My 1/2 oz and less I'm throwing on 20# braid, over that on 50#.
  3. Clunn may be a great fisher, but I've always cast a BC on the horizontal. Today, between my Fuego and my President, I probably tossed them 100 times. Only two backlashes, neither of them deep or heavily knotted. Further ones prevented by just a minor adjustment on the brakes. So...2% backlash while casting with the spool parallel to the water...pretty good results.
  4. Well, keeper season doesn't start until the 25th. Hopefully my outing on the 26th has some keeping size.
  5. Well, first bass trip out on Phelps Bay and I didn't get skunked. But nothing really of note. 2-9", 1-10" and 1-11" along with a mess of panfish. Next scheduled trip out is the 26th...maybe try Dutch then First bass of the year - 10" dink
  6. Ready to head out for some fishing today - truck (posted earlier) with canoe now hitched up
  7. Only possible issue I can see is that the S-Waver 168 weighs 1-5/8 oz and the rod is rated to 1-1/2 oz...but it's not a severe overload. As long as you don't try to whip it into orbit, it should be fine. Other than that little (ignorable) issue, I don't see a problem. Leader? I don't use them, so can't answer to that.
  8. As someone who's 'sweated in' many a copper line - the main advice I can give is...be patient. Even if you've done everything right, there's still a chance for pin-hole leaks. Can't tell you how many times I've had to re-melt the solder to seal those after installing whatever I'm putting in. So don't feel bad if the first try isn't a complete success...even those of us with years of experience still get them occasionally.
  9. I wouldn't call my finesse rig 'higher end'. Matter of fact, it cost me all of $30. Mitchell Avocet RZ-2000 on a matched 6'6" Avocet ML/F rod loaded with 8# mono. This is the rig I use for drop-shots, ned-rigs, weightless wacky - any light-weight finesse technique...even weightless T-Rigs. I like the ML for the sensitivity and I don't worry about straightening out my #1 hooks with it. If the Medium rod is doing it for you, then I'd say go for it. I've got a President-25, but it's on my Ultra-lig rod for panfish and trout...great reel.
  10. I've never come close to hitting the thumbar when setting a hook...mainly because I don't palm my reel.
  11. You can also click on the down-arrow next to your user name that's under the Logo. One of the options is 'Manage Followed Content'. You can remove yourself from multiple threads there.
  12. I should see if I still have my old table-top tripod floating around here. Put my Canon on it and go. Hmmm (begins digging in the closet)
  13. I just hold it at arm's length. I don't have a 'cheapie'...but it is woefully out of date. Galaxy S-4...it still works so I still have it. That's what my current profile pic was taken with.
  14. Take your pick https://www.amazon.com/Luggage-Scales/b?ie=UTF8&node=2477391011
  15. 4 or 6 pound mono. If it's all going to be worm fishing, the swivel is not necessary. Just tie the hook on with a good knot - I prefer the Palomar for this. Small split-shot weight above the hook - 8-12 inches. Smallest bobber you can get away with and still see. I'm a fan of the bait-holder hooks - prevents the worm from sliding down the shank of the hook - #6 or #4. Depth of the hook below the bobber - I like it about 2-2.5 feet.
  16. If it's a spinning rod, another one to check out while waiting for the Dobyns would be what I have, Diawa Spinmatic. A model with nothing but UL rods ranging from 4' to 8'. It's very light, very responsive and if I upgraded it would probably be to a Diawa Presso...another model that's UL only.
  17. Since I sunburn VERY easily, it's cargo pants, long-sleeved shirt and a hat. Luckily, someone gifted me several fishing shirts...one Columbia (what I'm wearing in my profile pic) and three HUKs. I may be warm, but I won't turn into a cooked lobster.
  18. I gotta relearn myself - been 10 years since I had a trailered boat, but luckily the canoe is easy to see over and around.
  19. You gonna wear it next time we have a meet-up? (snicker)
  20. It was a limited edition, JDM reel. http://www.tackletour.com/reviewabueliteaurora.html
  21. The fittings are usually standard. Only thing you have to know is what diameter the pipes are. 1/2" and 3/4" are the two standard sizes. <- Someone who does all the plumbing work around the house.
  22. Okay, that one shows the golden background color up near the dorsal side. I'd say it's definitely a Brownie.
  23. Looking at it, I'd say Brown Trout as well. There's a definite 'halo' around a number of the spots and Atlantic Salmon, the most probable Salmon species that might be in NH, doesn't have that halo. And while Brown Trout is mostly a golden background color, silver is not unknown.
  24. I've got 4# Yo-Zuri on my President 25 UL rig - line came with the reel which was gifted to me. Very limp, very castable. If I hadn't already purchased line for my other rigs, I'd be very tempted to buy it for the Avocet and Trion rigs as well.
  25. From Rapala's web-site...the Shadow Rap uses #6 trebles. And ya, VMC since Rapala owns them https://www.rapala.com/rapala/lures/shadow-rap-series/shadow-rap/Shadow+Rap.html
