  1. Voracious reader - there are stories out there that use the term and I looked it up when I first came across it about 55 years go...and it stuck with me.
  2. The 4# Siege IS the leader - and that long to let it get down far enough cause 832 floats.
  3. Nice thing about slip bobbers...give the line a twitch and the lure comes up several inches before the bobber moves appreciably. So basically you could 'jig' the wacky worm under the bobber to impart action.
  4. Dictionary Definitions from Oxford Languages · Learn more long pig /lôNG piɡ/ noun noun: long pig; plural noun: long pigs a translation of a term formerly used in some Pacific islands for human flesh as food.
  5. If that's how you feel - we'll serve you 'long pig' instead.
  6. I would think it'd be more like this
  7. Pick your pound-test - tie-able wire leader.
  8. I'm braid-leader on all my spinning rigs. My UL rig is 8# Sufix 832 to 4# Sufix Siege...8'-12' leader.
  9. I'd rather 'lose' one Zoom bait per fish than one Yamamoto bait per fish....much more reasonable cost/benefit ratio.
  10. Our last 'mom & pop' store closed this past year - Wayzata Bait and Tackle. We do have 'Waypoint' which opened last year - started by a local guy who won the 2014 High School Fishing Championship and went on to fish MLF's college circuit 2015-2018 and the Champions tour in 2021. Stock is mostly Japanese (Geecrack, DUO, Ichikawa, etc) baits and lures with St. Croix, 6th Sense and a few other names tossed in. Myself - between Scheels and Fleet Farm I can get pretty much all my needs met...with reels ordered from Digitaka and rods from ALF.
  11. You mean like Katie does in her canoe?
  12. Steve Rogers actually did some tests using a hydrophone...sonar was the main thing, but he also did a little bit with TMs and just general boat sounds. Results were surprising. Sonar and other sounds.
  13. Pit Boss fanboy here as well - Skeet's Chartreuse Shad for light color lures, Green Haze or Green Pumpkin for darker lures. Avatar pic bass was caught on white/charteuse spinnerbait with a Skeet's pit boss trailer.
  14. I use a MH/F spinner primarily for skipping jigs or weighted soft swimbaits as I can't skip with casting gear worth a d**n. I'll also do light pitching, it's a second spinner/plopper rod and even work swim jigs with it.
  15. That's only an issue with Lithium-Ion batteries...which they don't use in boats anymore. They've all gone to LiFePo4 which is MUCH safer. Also, the cycle-lifespan of LiFePo4 batteries is 10x that of lead-acid. So while the initial cost is 2x-3x that of Lead-Acid, in the long run it's much cheaper to go to Lithium. And as I noted above, you can get Mighty Max LiFePo4 batteries through any Home Depot...so that tosses the 'local purchase' complaint away.
  16. Problem is - those are still lead-acid batteries, which you don't want to draw down under 50%...so a 100ah in real-usage gives you 50ah. Regularly drawing a lead-acid battery below 50% charge will damage the plates and shorten the lifespan.
  17. Well, there you go. I'm on year 3 on my Mighty Max AGMs, and they're still solid. 100ah for the TM which I run 6-8 hours at 2-3 and I've still got 75%charge when I get home. When I go to Lithium - it'll be Mighty Max.
  18. If you have a Home Depot close to you - you can order Mighty Max batteries for 'Ship to Store'. If you ever have a problem, just take it back to the Home Depot...no shipping it with the outrageous charges that USPS/UPS/FedEx have for Lithium batteries.
  19. Hope so - a section of one of my classes in college was running down the taxonomic tables to identify water plants...my major was Aquatic Biology.
  20. You can also find the Kalin's Triple Threat at FishUSA and BPS/Cabelas
  21. The short-stubby branches off the main run are indicative of milfoil. Coontail has longer, more 'whispy' branches. Another shot of coontail.
  22. That's Northern Milfoil...Coontail looks like this
  23. Fleet Farm carries Kalin's Triple Threat Crappie Jigs in 1/16 and 1/32 in three colors....I like them cause they have the wire bait keeper instead of the thick wedge of others.
