  1. My spinning reels are all braid to leader...that reel is 15# 832 to 8# InvizX. Casting reel is straight 10# YZH.
  2. It's long over - ran Sept 21 to Oct 6 And you're a bit early for 2025 "The festival of the City of Munich. In 2025, the 190th Oktoberfest will take place from September 20 to October 5 on the Theresienwiese." https://www.oktoberfest.de/en
  3. You do know that it's back.... https://www.fleetfarm.com/detail/uncle-josh-green-spot-original-pork-frog-jar/0000000387436?srsltid=AfmBOordohEjl7YiQNLnhOspfa4Fdx8w_HjfcyTGe3Lj-yo0pEU9MnKg
  4. When you can't see where your lure lands without using binoculars.
  5. Ya, the larger lip and increased diameter of the 3000 will let it cast further...but it's a matter of a dozen yards or so, so not a big deal. For the fish you're looking to catch...a MH/F would be my suggestion.
  6. I've used Sufix 832 in 8# which is right at .007 and not had issues. I'd be confident in the 6# at .006 to use it if I wanted lighter. Another option is Sufix Nanobraid. It's thinner at the same pound test....8# is .005 down to 2# at .001. The In Fisherman guys who fish light braid swear by it.
  7. Only real difference between a 2500 and a 3000 is the spool size...so if you're not needing more line on your reel, the 2500 should do. With Daiwa, it's not an issue, the 'D' in the reel model means 'Deep', and they hold way more line than the equivalent Shimano or Abu. I'd put 20# or 30# braid on that with 10#-12# FC or YZH.
  8. I've got mainly St Croix in my lineup and never had and issue - I'd suspect dissers paid by another brand.
  9. Ya know - with the gray coming in on your beard - you two will end up with the same coloration.
  10. Depends on the lure....lighter ones like poppers and smaller jerks are on spinning, heavier ones like ploppers, spooks and larger jerks are on casting.
  11. Dude, I OWN the bus...I've been shore bound all season and caught only a few dinks this year. You're making up for the rest of us, Katie - epic fishing.
  12. The free-er the swing, the more flash it tosses off....and that's the draw of it. You'd notice that all three I use have split rings at both ends to allow the blade more freedom. Personally...I'd try a swivel at the blade end of the wire....that blade would really move with that.
  13. I go more by the ratings rather than what the manufacturer states as the 'technique specific' usage...while there are certain rods that are technique specific, I try to get rods that can be used for more than one thing as my budget foregoes me from getting a spread like @A-Jay has.
  14. The Marshall is probably the best 'all around' rod.
  15. News to me - I know Dobyn's got sold, but St Croix is still 'advertising' "Family Owned" on it's website, and there's nothing in the financial news about it.
  16. When I found out that Zoom had discontinued the 'Fluke Tailed Goby', I found a place that still had a number of packs left and basically bought them out.
  17. Welcome from near your old stomping grounds.... KP, you're not suppose to warn him - it's suppose to be a surprise.
  18. ^ Thanks, Clayton - I'll have to try rigging my blessed Pit Boss that way next spring.
  19. ^ I don't fill any of my reels with mainline....backing then 65-70 yds - so 3 fills from my InvizX is $7 or so a reel.
  20. I went shore fishing today - one rig was jig and bobber for panfish, other three rigs were Shakey, Ned and Drop-Shot.
  21. Why would you do it any other way? Bass Trek may not be as fast as your rigs (25mph is the most I've been able to coax out of her), but I'm heading with purpose not 'cruising around'.
  22. Welcome, welcome....and yes, when I order from Digitaka I usually have the reel in my hand in 3-4 days...that's better than most US based stores.
  23. Looks like our extended season is continuing - forecast is for 50s and 60s through next Monday at least.
  24. Nope - it's just a thing with me...also while I might tend towards a certain color before I launch, on-the-water conditions might change what color/style I'd use. So then I'd have to take the pre-rigged plastic off, put it back in it's proper bag, then dig out the one I'm actually going to use.
  25. Yep - plastics don't go on until I'm ready to toss the lure in the water.
