  1. @twigss, PLEASE LISTEN TO ME, DO NOT BUY ONE OF THESE. ?
  2. I don't have one but they look like good rods. It seems that they spent a lot of time on that reel seat. From their website: AAA Cork full grip handle Sea-Guide Soft Touch Alien Reel Seat with Positive Lock design provides a secure platform for all reels Carbon Bound blanks are spiraled with carbon thread for additional strength and precise action Fuji® Guides with stainless steel deep pressed frames with alconite inserts Limited Lifetime Warranty
  3. Yeah, I just took these out of the package but I think I may be losing them because I'm not getting a good hookset. Several of them were just on before I felt a thump or anything so I never really could set the hook. (and I de-barb my hooks, but I've always done that)
  4. Thanks! I've heard they walk really well too. Is that true?
  5. I've lost five fish over four pounds this week. ? (by my estimation; some were probably 5+ pounders) I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I've started losing a lot recently.
  6. I just got a package of all the booyah frogs from DSG for $10. (booyah pad crasher, popping pad crasher, and pad crasher jr.) Which one should I use for different situations? Is there a certain time where the popping type is better, or where a smaller one is better?
  7. There are a lot of snakes in there. That's what I would guess.
  8. Daiwa Fuego/Tatula and Shimano SLX are both great reels. I have both and the SLX has the edge in casting distance, but they're both good.
  9. Zoom 'Ol Monsters maybe?
  10. Thanks! Yeah, there definitely are situations that call for small lures. Even the smallest bass in my lake seem to prefer 12" worms over anything else for some reason though. ? They're odd fish
  11. I never said that the SLX is definitely better than the curado. ALL I'm saying is that the SLX casts really well. That's it. I don't hate curados. I've never used curados. I'm sure they're great reels. Probably better than the SLX. I just pointed out that two people who own both say their SLX casts farther than their curado. I don't know if this is true, but I just pointed it out.
  12. How do you get rid of the itch to buy a $150 rod? Easy. Buy a $250 rod.
  13. ? Awesome fish by the way!
  14. You should come to Alabama for that. 5 pounders are not uncommon in the pond I fish. Probably partly because of their genetics, and there are so many huge gizzard shad for them to feast on. Whatever it is, they get huge.
  15. I've caught hundreds of bluegill on small lures and I've never caught one bass on anything smaller than a 2.75" ned rig. Maybe it's just the fish in my area that don't bite small lures, I don't know.
  16. I'm not saying that it's impossible to catch a bass on a 1 inch lure, but it's just not ideal unless your goal is to catch the smallest bass in the lake.
  17. Ned rigs seem to be an exception, but I fished a lot of those tiny strike king crankbaits last year and never caught a bass on one. Plenty of bluegill and crappie though. Maybe it's just the pond I fish, but (aside of the ned rig) I never catch bass on lures that small. Plus, those SK bitsy minnow crankbaits are about an inch long compared to the 2.75 in. ned rig. ^
  18. (please delete)
  19. I don't know which one casts farther, but I was just pointing out that two different people said it. Someone in another thread. As I said up there, all I did was point out that two people said that their SLX casted farther than their curado. I don't know if it does though.
  20. Two people have said that the SLX casts farther now. Maybe it doesn't, just pointing that out.
  21. @jbsoonerfan (TBAG, just scroll up in the comments a little if you're wondering why I'm posting this.)
  22. 59 - 60 is spawning range?
  23. I usually just fish ponds but there have been a lot of good fish up in shallow cover in the past few days in those ponds. Texas rigs are working well for me right now.
