  1. Exactly what I was thinking. My advice would be to just buy some decent sinkers. I bought a 10 package of lead weights at walmart for $1.50 yesterday and they were completely smooth on the inside.
  2. Try a weighted wacky rig head with an elaztech worm. It has a really unique fall/action. Plus, the elaztech lasts for dozens of fish.
  3. Are you sure they're bass? Could be... jumpin' catfish!
  4. You ever stubbed your toe?
  5. I once stubbed my toe... ?
  6. Are you using a baitcaster? If so, 10lb. braid is way too light.
  7. Unfortunately I don't have any advice, but I'd be interested to see what other people think about this. I've never caught a topwater fish in the pond where I fish. I've fished frogs, walking baits, buzzbaits, etc. for hours without a bite.
  8. I'm a bit of a professional shopper myself when it comes to Bass Pro Shops.
  9. Not a problem if you just wait a second to set the hook. If it isn't sensitive you won't feel those light bites, and they'll spit it out or swallow it.
  10. I don't have much experience with topwater, but I can assure you that it just happens sometiems even if you do everything right. Even KVD loses fish.
  11. Congrats! Looks like a soild 3 pounder to me.
  12. 2/0 is what I would use for that senko, but 3/0 would work. Is the 15 pound braid on a spinning rod? If so, that's also what I would use, but if that braid is on a baitcasting rod, you'll probably need something like 40 or 50 pound braid. I know 50 pound braid sounds like overkill, but it's much easier to handle than 15 pound braid. (and you don't have to worry about breaking off) Good luck.
  13. Yep. That's the reel I have on my baitcasting setup. No need for electrical tape.
  14. 1. Spinnerbait 2. Various texas rig baits (most important) 3. Flipping jig 4. Walking bait 5. Crankbait 6. Lipless crankbait Those are some of the most effective lures. If he has a ML or M power rod, something like a ned rig, or dropshot would be better, but with a MH the lures listed above would be best.
  15. Thanks. I'll read those.
  16. I haven't been doing well at all fishing shallow cover recently, so I decided to pick up a jig and just drag it on the bottom until I find some structure. (hump, dropoff, etc.) For about an hour I just dragged that jig along the bottom but I never knew if it was on any structure. It mostly felt the same except for when it hit a stick, rock, etc. The question is, what does it feel like when it's coming over structure? I have a feeling all the bass have gone out to deep water due to the heat.
  17. If you're not sure whether it's a fish or not, set the hook.
  18. Thanks. I actually saw a cicada buzzing on the surface the other day. I noticed that it took it about 5 minutes to get about 5 feet. Think we fish topwaters too fast..?
  19. There are some willow trees hanging out over the water, but that's the only shade I can think of. Does that sound like a good target?
  20. How hard is it, in general, to catch bass on a topwater frog during the middle of the day? I've done ok fishing shallow cover the past few days with jigs, T-rigs, etc. but I've fished a lot of frogs with no luck.
  21. Never fished for carp, but that thing is an absolute beast. Congrats!
  22. Surely insurance would take care of that. It wasn't his fault at all.
