  1. I prefer flouro because I can feel what the blades are doing all the time. I know if the blades are ticking rocks, snagging weeds, getting bumped by fish, etc.
  2. Actually, I just found an oldish spool of 15lb. big game mono. I'd prefer flourocarbon but I guess the mono will do.
  3. Thank you. I trimmed the skirt down a lot a while ago. It's actually more of a finesse looking lure than most spinnerbaits now. I also have 3/8 oz. Do you think the combination of the 3/8 oz. weight, the trimmed skirt, and a light drag would be enough to keep it from snapping? Also, I'm usually just burning it right under the surface so they hook themselves most of the time; I doubt I would have problems with hooksets because of that.
  4. Nope. I bought it for my jerkbait baitcaster but it's the only line I have besides some 17 lb. mono now. I must have gotten the best spool of Vanish ever because I haven't had any problems at all with it so far. I even tested the strength before and after soaking in water and it was pretty strong.
  5. Alright. I'll stick with my gold willows then. Thanks.
  6. Alright. Thanks. Would you use a willow or colorado blade this time of year? It'll be about 50 - 55 degrees at the time I'm fishing.
  7. I wish I could help you, but I've had the same problem. Not one bite since it started cooling down. Not even on a jerkbait.
  8. I mostly just leave lures how they are, but the exception to that is spinnerbaits. I prefer to just take apart spinnerbaits I don't like, then eventually use all those pieces to make a new one.
  9. I'm going out to throw a spinnerbait for a while later, but I have a couple questions about them. First of all, will 10lb. Berkeley Vanish be heavy enough for open water fishing with a 1/2 oz. spinnerbait? I know some people hate that line but I've used it a couple times and I haven't had any problems with it yet. Also, is it ok to put a colorado blade on a spinnerbait that was designed for a willow leaf blade? I'm using the Strike King KVD finesse double willow spinnerbait, but I have a new colorado blade I want to swap out for that willow blade. Thanks.
  10. ^ 6.5/10
  11. I once talked for about an hour in the middle of the night about a reel that I was designing. While I was asleep.
  12. More Z-man baits. A package of them isn't any cheaper than a package of standard soft plastics but they last fifty times longer.
  13. Just landed one in the 7 - 8 pound range on a custom jig that @cadman made for me. My brother happened to be there so he got a video from a long way away... Better than no video though, I guess. I was skipping along some weeds and that thing jumped clear out of the water and choked it. Anybody know how to upload videos on here?
  14. I use braid to flouro, but I wouldn't use anything lighter than 10# for the braid. I use 15# braid to 8# flouro.
  15. I'd say so. If the drag isn't smooth or doesn't start spinning immediately it can snap the line. Edit: My President XT drag system is perfect.
  16. I use a 30. A 25 would be fine too. And could you rephrase that question? I'm not sure I understand what you mean.
  17. Why not a President XT? I love mine.
  18. Shouldn't be a problem.
  19. Nice. Glad I bought them now.
  20. Has anyone here used these? https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Yum_Christie_Craw/descpage-YUMCRCW.html If so, what do you think about them? Just bought a bunch of them for jig trailers since they were on sale.
  21. Never used Hi-vis line, but have you tried a flouro leader with it?
  22. Ned rig is the #1 lure for smallmouth in my opinion. If you use it, make sure you get the real Z-man heads and Elaztech TRDs. Putting have a senko on a standard jig head just doesn't work nearly as well. Plus, you'll safe a lot of money in the long run since the elaztech baits last so much longer.
  23. I'd definitely make a call to the F&G if I were you. As Sam said, I'd wait about a month so he doesn't suspect you.
  24. No reason not to use braid for that. Landed a ten pounder a few days ago using braid with a spinnerbait. ?
