  1. How long are waiting between the strike and hookset? Also, make sure you keep the line taut while you're fighting it.
  2. Congratulations. As for the old piranha logo question, I would say it could definitely stand to be re-designed.
  3. Good luck man. You won't be disappointed with the mag lizards.
  4. Zoom for soft plastics and strike king for hardbaits definitely.
  5. Zoom magnum lizards.
  6. You can get a really nice, big kayak with a motor for a couple thousand dollars. And the only maintenance would be for the motor.
  7. Alright, I just checked mine and the handle spins a lot more than that. Are you sure you assembled the reel handle and everything the right way? If you think you did then I would try to exchange it; it sounds like it's defective.
  8. I'll go test mine in a few minutes and get back with you.
  9. Yep. A while ago I started in the south and fished at least one lake in each state; caught my PB largemouth, a 10 lb smallmouth, several muskie, and then woke up.
  10. That was me. I fished almost every day for 6 months before landing my first bass, and I loved it. Everybody thought I had gone insane.
  11. Seriously, how many people have you met that just kind of like bass fishing but don't like it that much? It seems like everybody that tries it is soon burning hundreds of dollars on tackle, spending all of their free time either on the lake, or reading articles on bass fishing, shopping for tackle, etc. Why do you think it's so addicting?
  12. I actually just switched to a lew's carbon fire (I got it for $45 on sale) and I would definitely recommend it if you can get it on sale, and if you haven't already bought a white bird. It just has better sensitivity, winn grips, etc.
  13. I tried that before and I could barely feel anything but that was with my old rod which wasn't sensitive at all.
  14. Hard to say without trying it, but if you could avoid snagging it that does sound like it would be effective. I don't have much experience with the dropshot though so someone else here can probably help more.
  15. Update: Used mine yesterday, and I can tell it's a good rod. Plus you can get one for $30 at Dick's Sports right now.
  16. Stick with the palomar. It's a great flouro knot and it's easy to tie.
  17. Won't be refunding it but thanks for telling me about that sale because I was planning on just buying the mach crush for full price right before Christmas.
  18. There are exceptions, but a $100 reel will almost always last a lot longer than a $30 reel. But good luck; you should be able to get a good deal on BF.
  19. Pflueger President XT is a great reel, but the Pflueger President is pretty similar. Watch for good sales on black friday because you can save a lot and still get a good reel then. It's worth it to spend the extra money and get a good reel that's going to last a lot longer.
  20. Just bought a Lew's Carbon fire and I couldn't find any reviews for it online so I decided to do one. Keep in mind that it just came this morning and I haven't fished it yet so this is kind of a work in progress review. I'll update it as soon as I get a chance to fish it. (possible this afternoon if I have time to throw my new jerkbait with it before we leave for my grandma's house) First impressions: Looks really nice. You can tell they spent time on the cosmetics. It's not the lightest rod ever, but it seems well balanced and it's comfortable to hold with a lightweight reel on it. Another thing I noticed was the skeleton reel seat; it apparently increases sensitivity because your index finger is directly touching the blank. The guides but they look pretty quality, they're all perfectly lined up, and the rod blank is arrow straight. Another thing I noticed out of the box was that it's stiff. Definitely a true MH/Fast action, which you want for T-rigs/jigs/etc. I'll update this ASAP after I test it on the water. Btw it's on sale for $60 down from $80 at Dick's Sports right now; it seems like a great rod for $60 imo. Tight lines. ?
  21. I don't know if it's considered a creature bait but zoom lizards slay them.
  22. I think it's IM6 I think the 20% off ended because it was a one day only thing but they do have a 20 off 100+ deal right now.
  23. Well, my brother drove over my MH white bird rod a few days ago so I was left without a baitcaster for the last few days of good weather before dead winter. Anyways, Dick's Sports was having a sale on carbon fire casting rods plus a 20% off I think so I ended up getting a MH carbon fire casting rod (MSRP $80.00) for forty-eight bucks. Pretty sweet deal. Question is, was that a good choice? It was a bit of an impulse buy because of the sale and because my one baitcaster was broken, but it looks like it gets pretty good reviews. What are your thoughts on it?
  24. Nice. Didn't know 10/0 bass hooks existed.
  25. The best fishing skills ever 3
