  1. That's a nice bass. So you think the longer rods bend more?
  2. Yep. It has a ton of action because of the vibration of the chatterbait and it looks just like a shad.
  3. Thanks. Isn't there a two piece option in that link?
  4. The pond I fish is filled with huge schools of gizzard shad and I've noticed that big willow leaf spinnerbaits work well; chatterbaits with a fluke trailer too.
  5. Extra question, do longer rods make fighting the fish less or more fun? It looks like they bend less than shorter ones in videos but I have no experience with this kind of thing so I don't know. I really just want a rod that makes bluegills feel like 10 pound bass. ?
  6. What is a spigot joint exactly? Do you think this rod would have that?: https://***/2RLIOgB
  7. Ok, last question about ultralights. I'm about to buy one but I want to be able to take it on vacation this year so I'm thinking about getting a two piece, but I recall hearing that two piece rods don't bend as well as the one piece alternative. With a MH rod or something I wouldn't be concerned about it, but an ultralight bends so far that it seems like it could be a problem. Is that true, or should I not worry about it?
  8. Early spring is a good time to fish them. In Colorado I guess that would be about a month from now...? You don't need one, but you might as well get a dozen of them anyway. Make sure to get a few packages of trailers and some replacement skirts too. - Bait monkey My two biggest bass were actually both on a spinnerbait, even though I don't fish them very much. Seems like the bigger bass in the pond I fish prefer loud, moving lures for some reason.
  9. Well, I caught my first big bass in months today on a chatterbait. I realized something; I've caught two bass on chatterbaits now and they were both over 4 lbs. Was that just a coincidence or are chatterbaits just one of those lures that big fish like? Any thoughts on this?
  10. You don't even take it off to go to bed??
  11. Do they have an ultralight option in that rod?
  12. Do they have those in stores? I don't see an ultra-light online.

    Soon....

About a month from now is when I start catching them in shallow cover. I was looking through my fish pictures and there were several pictures taken in early March of me standing next to a laydown or something holding a big bass. Nothing before then though. It's been months since I caught a decent fish so this spring is going to be amazing.
  14. Who wouldn't buy a dozen giant stuffed llamas?
  15. Yeah, I may just go with the GX-2. Have you used them? Is the handle comfortable? Looks like it would be kind of awkward to hold but I can't tell.
  16. I found a rod I really like (http://www.***.com/ambition/) but I can't find it anywhere near me or anywhere online with shipping under $10. Does anybody know of a site I'm missing that would have one of those with decent shipping prices?
  17. Looking for a decent ultra-light spinning rod to use at the ponds near where we're vacationing this year. Any recommendations for decently sensitive ultra-light rods $30 and under that will hold up for a season?
  18. Haha, yeah, that's a bad sign.
  19. Just found this site because I'm looking for an ultra-light rod. fishingequipmentsale.com Everything is so low priced that I'm wondering if it's a scam, or used equipment or something. Have any of you ever bought from this site?
  20. Do you know what they were catching?
  21. I used a blackmax for a long time and it never failed me. You can get reels with better drags, brake systems, etc. but the blackmax isn't going to cause you to lose a fish or anything in a tournament.
  22. I have the 702 and use it for most of the things you listed. It excels with ned rig but works fine for other stuff like the senko too. If you're fishing a lot around heavy cover I would definitely go with the 703, but otherwise the 702 would be my choice.
  23. I can't help you with the question about spots, but welcome to bassresource!
  24. If the problem is that the flat side won't fit inside the split ring, just put the flat side of the split ring on the outside of the split ring rather than the inside.
