  1. Yeah, I watched a comparison video and they both have basically no action so it pretty much just comes down to durability, fall rate, etc.
  2. I always wind it with the line coming off the top of the reel so there's no line twist.
  3. It's bumpy. It's not uneven on the spool.
  4. There's nothing wrong with the reel; the actual line is just uneven. It's even on the spool.
  5. Thanks. Do you prefer wacky rig or texas rig? (light to no cover)
  6. I want to try stick worms (I did a couple times before, but I don't even remember my results) but I don't want to pay for senkos which I burn through very quickly so I've narrowed it down to the Yum Dinger and the SK Shim-E-Stick. In your opinion, which has better action? Also, which has a slower fall rate? I'm fishing in less than four feet of water generally, so I don't want one that's going to plummet to the bottom.
  7. It is the actual line that feels bumpy. Is that what you're saying?
  8. I got it at Cabela's. I don't have a boat but I could probably do the same thing from shore.
  9. My Red Label Flourocarbon is pretty much completely smooth though. Is it just a monofilament thing? Yep. I got out my spool of 4 lb. Trilene XL mono and it's the same, except a little smoother. (probably because of the lighter line)
  10. I bought a new spool of 10lb. Berkeley Trilene XL mono about a month ago, and while I was spooling my new Shimano SLX with it today I noticed that the whole 100 yds. or so of line felt uneven/bumpy or something. Is that a problem, or should I not worry about it?
  11. I love it so far. The handles are perfect.
  12. I've never used an SLX rod but I just bought the SLX reel and I love it. If the quality of the reel gives any indication of the rod than I'd say it's probably a good rod.
  13. Nice fish. I've set catfish lines out a lot of times and still never got a bite. I know they're in the pond I fish because I've seen other people catch them, and some 5+ pound floating ones.
  14. Thanks. I went with a Shimano SLX. It seems pretty nice so far.
  15. Definitely replace the trebles, and maybe the split rings, I think. The lures should be fine though.
  16. I say we nuke them.
  17. I've decided to get a Shimano SLX but I still want to try a Kastking Assassin at some point.
  18. Ok, I'm going to go with the Shimano SLX.
  19. I use 12, but it's such a small difference that you can just go with whichever one you want. In your situation, I would probably go with 10 lb. though.
  20. Well, it took me an hour to fall asleep last night so I used the time to calculate every possible way I could get a Shimano SLX for less than retail price. I discovered that, using a twenty dollars off one hundred, I could get it for $80, and, adding two $10 rewards card coupons, I could get it for $60 if I buy it Dick's Sports. (the $20 off expires tomorrow ?) Anyway, I realized this morning that for that money I could get a Revo X or something. I'm still leaning towards the SLX, but out of this selection, which reel would you choose? - Shimano SLX, 13 Fishing Origin TX, Abu Garcia Revo X, or something by Lew's.
  21. Unfortunately I'm right hand retrieve. I wouldn't hesitate to buy that if I were left hand retrieve though.
  22. I bought a scale/fish gripper recently but I forgot to bring it. I'll try to remember next time.
  23. Does it have a good braking system?
  24. $90 isn't too bad. I'll definitely consider it. Thanks!
  25. I don't have a way to buy off of Ebay, but do you know if there's another place I get one below retail price?
