  1. Catt, in some ways this reminds me of the duck boat ride on Table Rock here in Missouri. They used to give rides in these old WW2 boats here. They let those people go out there under horrible conditions, and several people died. They should have never been out there to begin with. Very sad thing when these things happen.
  2. I would like to think I'm Babe Ruth, but I'm probably more like a little league player.
  3. A big bass I missed years ago. It made me determined to get better at bass fishing.
  4. Scumfrog Original. Green or White.
  5. Il say I'm a 5. Standard portable depth finder in my canoe, small box with lures I've proven that work for me. And I have fun. That's important.
  6. Good reel for the money. I have one that's ten years old, and still works well
  7. Good post. I think I would rather not see the big fish.
  8. Mike, my brother in law lived in Iowa. We went up there years ago to visit, and caught a big mess of yellow perch. He cooked them for breakfast, and I thought they were some of the best fish I've ever eaten.
  9. My favourite fish to eat are crappie fillets. Bluegill are good tasting also. And I like walleye whenever I can get some. I release all the bass I catch.
  10. Agree. I'll take some rain over oppressive heat most anytime.
  11. We've had a lot of rain here also. Everyone's complaining. My prediction is it will stop and become blazing hot, with high humidity. Then, folks will complain about that too.
  12. Ill mention this. If your looking for a good Jitterbug, I would try to find an older one made by the Fred Arbogast Co, in Akron Ohio. The lip is thicker metal, and the hardware is better. The lip on the new Chinese made bugs is thin and bends easily, causing them to track poorly. I've picked them up at antique shops or yard sales. If the lip is loose on an older one, put a small dab of waterproof epoxy on the screws, the reattach the lip. Black is my favourite color, but frog, or the red/ white can be good also.
  13. I've seen a lot of snakes, but have never been bitten either. But, I don't try to handle them or mess with them. Just let them be.
  14. Be careful. That could be some sort of an omen.
  15. A-Jay, that snake is perfectly camouflaged. You could step right on him and not know he's there until he bites you. Glad he took off.
  16. In my area of North Central Missouri, we have two venomous snakes. Copperheads, and timber rattlesnakes. The timber rattlesnakes are very seldom seen. I've only seen one in my lifetime. With all the rain we've been having, I've seen quite a few snakes on my bank fishing trips. The heavy spring rains flush these snakes out, and I always see more at this time of year. At one small lake I fish, there's a guy I've seen fishing there with his son. Last time I saw him, he told me he won't fish this lake anymore, because it's infested with water moccasins. This is wrong, and what he's seeing are common dark colored water snakes. They're non venomous. We don't have water moccasins in this part of Missouri. Black snakes are common here also. They can get big, and look intimidating, but again, they're not venomous. Of course, any of these snakes will coil up, and possibly bite you if they're cornered or harassed. In all my years, this has never happened, and they always avoid any confrontation. My conservation department puts out a pamphlet, which shows color detailed photos of all the snakes in the state. Just thought I might put this out there, especially for the bank fisherman here. Learn to identify the snakes in your area, and know which ones are venomous and non venomous. And, it goes without saying, watch where you walk in the tall grass. Can you identify the snakes that live around your lakes?
  17. A-Jay, thank you for sharing this video. And I hope your wife continues to improve.
  18. My favourite and most consistent way is with a plastic worm. I like t rig, Shakey head, weightless, and split shot.
  19. I buy Big Game at Walmart Mart, along with Trilene XL for lighter lines. I rarely have any problems.
  20. By putting that ABU reel on there, you made your outfit lighter, which helps with sensitivity.
  21. Yes sir. It was Shaft
  22. Here's a clue: he's a complicated man, and no one understands him but his woman.
  23. I've got one question to ask of you guys. We'll see who remembers. The question is: Who was the man, who would risk his neck for his brother man?
  24. Catt, same for me. I have some hand pain, probably from gripping tools so much over the years. The Lews LFS helps this, being smaller and lighter.
  25. I think this should be done every so often. I'd like to thank our BR Site Moderators. They do a good job of helping this site run smoothly. Thank you to our BR Site Moderators here. You guys are doing a great job.
