  1. Like the other guys have said, move up up to z heavier rod, anc practice. Keep at it. It can be tough to hook frogs consistently.
  2. A-Jay, I've been sending good, positive thoughts your way, and will continue to do so.
  3. Have a great time. Wisconsin is a cool place to visit.
  4. I agree. Buzzbaits have worked this summer as well as they always have. They're a must have for me.
  5. I think my water is too clear for them to work well.
  6. Man, I can't catch a bass on a chatterbait. I've tried em, and they just don't work for me. Fill in the blank with a bait that just doesn't work for you.
  7. Ol Crickety, that's a good looking dog. I hope you have many good years of companionship with this one.
  8. Always a plastic worm is #1 for me. Too many good ones to list here, and they can all work. Plastic worms still rule.
  9. This is old I'm sure, and probably thousands of folks know this trick, but I thought I'd pass it along. Most folks prefer a floating plastic worm with a shakey head. Take a straight plastic worm. A Zoom Trick Worm is a good example. Clip about 1/8" off the tail. Take a round toothpick and thread it into the tail of the worm. Thread around 1" or so into the worm. Cut off any excess toothpick flush with the tail. Toothpicks will float, and will cause the tail of your plastic worm to float up off the bottom. You could do this with a shakey head, open hook jig worm style, or probably a t rig worm. Basically, doing this, you've created a floating, or semi floating plastic worm. Almost any straight tail plastic worm can work. This can make your bait more visible, and hopefully, draw more strikes from the bass.
  10. Happy birthday Tom!
  11. Most bass lures are versatile. Try a new or different retrieve. An example, try swimming a plastic worm instead of hopping it. Your using a confidence bait, but in a new way. It can work.
  12. Take care Spankey. Follow your docs orders. Hope your back to fishing soon. Drink a lot of water, and rest.
  13. Catt, I have an old one like this except mine has a guy hook.
  14. Mine is a Case medium stockman. Three blades. I've had it for at least 25 years. I also have a Leatherman tool I carry for fishing.
  15. A Beetlespin is my favourite small light spinnerbait.
  16. I bought two 1000 size Shimano Sienna spinning reels seven years ago. I originally bought them for a trout trip to the MO Ozarks. After extensive use, they still work perfectly. I've caught many stocked trout, crappie, bream, and bass with these reels. For a dedicated bass reel, I'd choose the 2500 size Sienna. If there's any drawback to these reels, I'd say the thinner bail wire is one. Otherwise, they've been very reliable with basic maintenance. If your on a tight budget for fishing gear, the Sienna may be a good option for you. Just an opinion, but I think they're one of the best spin reels for the dollar. At 29.95 each, it's hard to go wrong.
  17. If it's raining hard, I don't go. But, I've been out and it starts raining lightly and the fish turn on. Usually a good time for moving baits. Spinnerbaits, Traps etc.
  18. Caiden24, I suggest you Google Charlie Brewer, Billy Westmoreland, Guido Hibdon, and Don Iovino. There are more. Look these guys up and read about how they fished finesse style. You can learn how finesse fishing got started and, the how and why of it all. Learning about these guys can help you get a better understanding of finesse bass fishing. The term different meanings to different folks these days.
  19. I can't comment on the Shimano Nexave. I have handled them and they seem good. I do have a 1000 size Diawa Revros. I've been using it for two seasons now, and no problems. Good reel for the money.
  20. It's been said here on BR that we can't force feed the fish. It's 100 percent true. We have to give the fish what works, and, it can change day to day. Depending on things, a smaller bait can work well. Examples are clear water, fronts passing through etc.
  21. Bass are not always real aggressive. They don't chase after everything you throw. Finesse is usually downsizing baits, lines, and fishing slower. And yes it works.
  22. For me, I think Im 8 from the bank, 8-9 from my canoe, and 7-8 from a boat. I fish mostly a smaller quarry lake and I've learned some good spots to cast from the bank.
  23. By this time of the season, I have the bite dialed in pretty good. I don't carry a huge amount of stuff because I won't end up using it. I've thrown the wrong lure of course, and my plan won't work every time, but I'll switch to something that's works after a short time.
  24. I'll call the " fish stringer " rig. Obviously deadly...
  25. Yes sir. Happy 4rth of July to everyone here on BR. Have a safe relaxing holiday.
