  1. I just picked up a pair of wranglers from walmart. The best value and I love them! https://www.walmart.com/ip/Men-s-Outdoor-Comfort-Flex-Cargo-Pant/899017868 The charcoal color is perfect for work also. I also bought up some Columbia blood and guts, but haven't worn them yet. Edit: also I heard about hanes long sleeves, and they are $7.50 each no shipping right now. https://www.hanes.com/shop/hanes/hanes-mens-long-sleeve-t-shirt-24270
  2. Thank you everyone! I never considered oars. I figured a 260cm/102 inch kayak paddle would work, but I wasn't sure how practical. I think I'll go for the kayak and decide if I'll keep the boat.
  3. Hello, I just bought a 14' jon boat. I was debating between a kayak and jon boat, and the boat won for the room to take my family sometime. I plan on only paddling. When I picked it up the guy was saying it is hard to paddle. I don't know if he just had the wrong paddle, or what. I'm thinking a long kayak paddle would be perfect for it. It got me thinking to buy a kayak also, for fishing solo. I would rather not spend the money though if there is not much difference. Can anyone give any insight? I would want a Vibe 130 Sea Ghost. Thanks!
  4. I can buy a $50" tv for $250 so that's a great deal for a 2" larger screen.
  5. I was loving reel test reviews, but his gulping and swallowing always bothered me, until I just couldn't do it anymore. I did find tackle advisors thank the Lord. I have been a researching madman though, and finally ordered all 3 rods and reels. Thanks to everyone here!
  6. So I have been reading a ton. I just pulled the trigger on a Tatula SV 6.3:1! Can someone help me decide for a crankbait setup? Tatula SV and a glass rod; IRG763CC-MH iRod Genesis II Casting Freds Crank Launch Jr. with 8lb min line capacity. Or the 13 metanium with a more affordable glass Powell Inferno: http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Powell_Inferno_Crankbait_and_Jerkbait_Casting_Rods/descpage-PCI.html Both reels max drag work out and fit those rods I matched them with. If one reel is better over the other for a certain thing, I could use either one for cranking duty. I'll try to make it until tomorrow and hold back this itch to buy!
  7. This confirms what fishinkamp said...results at 12:46:
  8. Thanks everyone for the welcomes! So the 7'6" rod that I'm wanting is for crankbaits, and anything else I can get away with doing. I'm realizing that my 7.4:1 Metanium is not the best ratio for mid to deep cranking. I'll find a use for it somewhere else like topwater ect. I found a rod for cranking, thanks to this forum! It's the Powell Inferno Crankbait rod, and has a 10 lb line minimum. Can anyone recommend a reel that is good for mid-deep cranking?
  9. Yes I want a 7'6" MH/moderate rod to be able to cast as far as possible, and maybe a 7' rod for mabe the tatula sv. Good idea to bring the reel to the store.
  10. Yes I am trying to decide what rod to choose. Thanks everyone! I was decent at casting. I think my problem was trying to cast to hard. I do realize that a $99 reel would have been great, but after reading a ton...I decided to skip the middle level and go all out. I'm also trying to learn what type rods I need for the types of fishing I want to do beyond my "medium" generic setups. Also I'm thinking about adding to my dusty bait arsenal. I'm going through bass pro looking at reviews, and saving some picks I wouldn't have thought of. I'll do some searching here on that also. Thanks for all the good advise. I'll update with my rod choice and second setup if anyone is interested.
  11. I wanted to say hello, and thanks for the "what reel" threads. These really helped me choose my first reel. I used to fish abu ambassadeur reels, on the recommendation of my grandad. After my grandad died, I eventually got frustrated with backlashing and hanging up, along with just not getting enough fish to be worth it. That was years ago, and I quit fishing. So now I want to do it right. I want a reel that is the most backlash proof, and also one I can bomb out there. Well this is my first pick: Shimano Metanium HG 13 7.4:1 https://www.ebay.com/itm/152923356591 Keep in mind I am the typical tightwad, but I don't want to have any more excuses. I'm eyeing the Tatula SV next for the backlash issues. This will go along with 2 Abu Blue Max rod/reel 6.5 ft MH combos and a $50 ugly stick GX2 50 Spinning rod/reel combo...oh and a cheap shakespeare ultralight spinning rig. I traded for the 2 blue max's and haven't fished those. The large spinning rig I bought to catfish, but only used it a couple times.
