  1. The dealer explained to me when I purchased the boat that the aerator may not pump water to the live well due to an air-locked pump. She recommended backing the boat up while in the water to force water into the pump in order to break the air-lock. This may have been the situation here.
  2. BPS issued a VIP # to me on the same day I purchased the boat. 6 days later the $400 gift card # was issued to me via email after I entered the hull # from the link in a "promotional" email. The later is the important part. It's easy to miss as this email doesn't say anything about applying for the gift card. This is the "promotional" email sent to me: Subject Promotional Incentive Notification Message body: Congratulations on your new TRACKER Boat! Your recent purchase has qualified you to receive special promotional offers. Please click the link below to register for your offers. From all of us at TRACKER Boats, we welcome you to the family. Sincerely, Your Friends at TRACKER Boats
  3. It's the hex nut attached to the Teleflex steering cable.
  4. You can adjust the steering tension. This suggestion came from Steve Clark over at the Tracker Heritage Owners Facebook group: "Back at your motor you will see a rod that slips through a large hex nut when you turn the steering wheel. Back that nut off a few threads and you will immediately notice the ease in steering." Here's a picture of the nut. It worked for me. Before it would take two hands to turn and after backing off the nut by 1/4 turn I can now steer with one hand on the wheel and the other on the throttle. Another steering adjustment you can make is the trim tab. Once you loosen up the steering you may notice turning left takes more effort than turning right (this was my case). By turning the trailing edge towards the easier side, the opposite side will be easier to turn. For me the trim tab was centered from the factory. I have adjusted it to be almost all the way to the right to make the force required to turn left and right to be about the same amount. Page 37 in the Mercury manual explains all of this.
  5. Congrats and I hope you have better luck with shipping time. For me Tracker Boats said the boat was shipped on March 10th. I just received a call from BPS this past Thursday the boat should be arriving early next week, about 10-1/2 weeks to ship!
  6. The only sure fix is to put them on a shelf in the garage. My thoughts exactly. I thought it was odd he was pitching the boat when you can no longer order one. And it's not like he shouldn't know, the video was posted on April 19th.
  7. Update: Called dealer again today. Dealer called back later to say there is some mixup and the next Heritage to arrive will be mine. So maybe in the next week or so I should have it. I guess the squeaky wheel does get the oil.
  8. Has anyone heard of Tracker Boats losing a customer's boat? I had ordered the Heritage boat on 2/16 and was given an estimated delivery date of June. I started to read posts of others who received their boat before the estimated delivery date. So about 4 weeks ago I called Tracker Boats to check on the status. The person said the boat had been shipped on March 10 with a typical ship time of 2-3 weeks. Thought this could be in error so I called a week later and was given the same info. Still no boat as of April 10th, so I called Tracker Boats again and the only info they had was the March 10th ship date, no info on if it made it to the dealer. I then turned around and called the dealer (BPS). I gave the salesman the ship date and other info, said I'll have to look into it. 5 hours later I get a call saying BPS hasn't received the boat (at this point it's been 4-1/2 weeks since the ship date) , maybe it will be on the next truck. So now it's been another week and still no boat. If I don't hear anything by this evening I'll send an email to the Manager asking exactly where is my boat. At this point Tracker has in their records the boat was shipped, so there won't be another one coming. And now the question is what happened to it once it was placed on the truck?
  9. I'm wondering if the installer couldn't find the right size nut and decided to add teflon tape to make it fit tighter. This would be odd because aren't these guides the same ones used for other boats? I've always used teflon tape to seal pipe or hose threads to keep air or water from leaking.
  10. The first link "30/40 FOURSTROKE_ 8M0118488R" should be the one you're looking for. It has fuel requirements and break-in instructions among many other things. When you receive your boat, a printed version of the manual should be included.
  11. I plan on taking the boat and cover down to the local canvas shop and have a motor cover added to the Dowco cover. This would then keep the water coming off the cover from draining into the boat.
  12. It's too bad Tracker Marine doesn't have an order inquiry web page. Until the Heritage came along there probably wasn't a need. I wonder if the dealers are getting tired of "When will my Heritage be in?" questions. As for me, I ordered on the afternoon of 2/16 and the salesperson told me an email was sent out that morning to inform all dealers from this date forward orders will not me fulfilled until June or later. I'll wait until early May before contacting BPS for the order status.
  13. Perhaps, but then the Pelican thread has been active for almost 8 years (110 pages) vs 3 months (30 pages) for this thread.
  14. Here are some links to download the outboard manual from Mercury's download center. The manual is for 2017. I haven't received the boat yet so I can't verify the 2017 manual is the same as for the 2018 model year. Perhaps those who now have the boat can verify if the online version is the same as the printed one. 15. I'd pass on the floor model. These are early production models, so they are more likely to have construction or design issues. Later production models would have any deficiencies found in the floor models corrected. Plus you don't know how many people have already picked, climbed over, and prodded the boat.
  16. When the engine loosens up you maybe able to run longer. According to this site (http://www.boat-fuel-economy.com/mercury-outboard-fuel-consumption-us-gallons) the engine doesn't start to consume 2 gal/hr until the low 4000 rpm range. Once I get the boat in June, I'll be able to provide better numbers. Whether or not to add an additional tank will depend on where you fish. For me I'll probably add a tank for those days I'm using the boat for water sports with friends. For those that are looking for a second tank, there is a Mercury branded fuel tank (https://www.amazon.com/Mercury-Quicksilver-Tank-Gas-6-6Gal-25L-Trad-Epa/dp/B007D2J6M6 also at West Marine). The Mercury has more positive reviews than the Scepter tank and it's plug and play (includes tank fitting, hose, fuel demand valve, and female fuel connector).
  17. On this boat I wouldn't want to put any electronics on the transom. It's exposed, no splash well, and with not much freeboard you will sooner or later take water over the transom. It's always best to put electronics (sealed or not) in a protected area.
  18. One tank should be enough for a day. But if you're like me, more is better. I'll post fuel consumption at various RPM's using Vessel View Mobile once the boat comes and it's broken in. Until then you can use this link for ball park fuel consumption numbers - http://www.boat-fuel-economy.com/mercury-outboard-fuel-consumption-us-gallons At cruising speed (4000-4500 rpm) the outbaord will burn around 2 gal/hr.
  19. Where on the boat is this located? Where you able to determine if these defects are surface only or run through the aluminum, thus allowing water to come in? So which defect are you talking about defect 1, 2, or both? Defect 1 Defect 2 Depending on the location and how bad these are, attempting to a re-weld by Tracker or the dealer might not be any better than to take JP Weld to it.
  20. Another hubcap bites the dust. People are starting to post videos on youtube of Heritage deliveries. This one shows the boat at the BPS with the hubcap on and then again on arrival at the house with it missing. He did say BPS ordered a new one for him. Looks like the hubcap could be an issue. Another poster in this thread had mentioned this as well. 1:43 - hubcap on 2:29 - hubcap is a goner
  21. I added this to the at home check off section (see my previous post for document). If you add a hose, I would just route it along the side of the console that's closest to the centerline. It can then drain on top of the deck to the aft drain entry. I assume this drain hole is only needed should the boat be left out in the rain, in which case the deck is already wet.
  22. Check off list announcement Per numerous requests (i'm stretching this a bit) I have created a pre/post boat purchase check off list. As issues or improvement suggestions are posted in this thread, I'll add it to the list. If for some reason your post doesn't get added, you can use "message" to alert me. The link I'm providing is a folder which also includes other Heritage related documents. At present these are trolling motor and the fish finder manual. Folder Link - Tracker-Heritage-Shared The check off list document is called "Heritage Checkoff Sheet" Direct link to "Heritage Checkoff Sheet"
  23. Is this bolt easily visible if you know where to look? My boat isn't scheduled to be delivered until June so I'm making a checkoff list before taking delivery. I'm including all of the items identified here in this thread. So far it's the mounting bolts for the fuel pump, sharp edge on aft storage locker lid, and metal shavings in the bilge. The tail lights I'll take a look at once home.
  24. Not only that, but for weight distribution as well. With the driver on the starboard side the gas tank should be on the port side. I like having equal amount of weight on the port and starboard side so that the boat rides level. If I suddenly have to make a sharp left or right turn at planing speed, I want the boat to behave the same for either turn. Does the tank/fuel line connection have a quick disconnect? From the picture it looks like it doesn't. I'll probably put in a second tank if I don't get enough mileage from the one tank. In this case I'm debating whether to put in a quick disconnect on each tank or a 3-way valve, either way it's going to be a manual operation.
  25. On the Heritage trailer in the showroom that I saw a couple of days ago, it had a 7-pin round connector that can directly plug into my 2012 Silverado trailer connector. FISHAMAAN, I'm in the same situation with a flat 4 conductor on the truck. I also have a utility trailer with a flat 4 connector as well. I found what looks like a good compromise without having to rewire the truck and the utility trailer. This item on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/57672-4-Way-Dual-Output-Electrical-Adapter/dp/B001EP0HPI/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1519442653&sr=8-7&keywords=4-Way+Flat+To+7-Way+Round+Blade+Socket+Adapter) attaches to the truck's 4 pole connector, you then mount the 7 pole connector to the truck (mounting bracket is included), the 7 pole connector also includes another 4 pole connector. So with this adapter you can plug in either a 4 pole or 7 pole trailer plug.
