  1. Do too the shape of the stern and location of the tie down strap’s I could only make them 14x10x8 so length times width times height equals 1120×2, since there’s two of them equals 2240÷231 in.² per gallon equals 9.690×8.3 pounds per gallon equals 80.87 pounds of flotation basically eliminating two batteries. or in my case since the new motor I put on is 100 pounds heavier than the factory. I’m just about back to normal. once the ice is gone, I’ll post some before and after photo and TopSpeed.
  2. It’s to help keep the stern up
  3. I’m not sure if anybody’s ever done it or if it’s going to work who knows I may end up just tearing them right back off, but I have added float pods to my ranger cross my fingers and hope that it works lol
  4. I’m fine with forward facing sonar yes I have it and I had it back when it was the original panoptix is it a game changer yes will I ever fish without it probably not have. I’ve been beat by people that don’t have it. Yes, all the tools and gimmicks in the world Still don’t put fish in the boat. It all comes down to the angler using it. I will agree with some of you guys out there though Randy is a troll. I can’t stand his videos or his opinions.
  5. Can’t say about the 42 but my 32 on a 9” is Crystal clear but then I’m also used to seeing the original panoptix but from all the research I did the 42 is better but when you already have the 32 it’s not that much better to justify the cost of buying another one plus when I ice fish I use a 6 inch hole in a 42 won’t fit either way, since you don’t have one to begin with which ever one you choose you will love it
  6. I’m running a 85 ranger 350v with a 2002 optimax 200hp 6”jack plate 80lb terrova 9” Garmin and livescope up front. 7” sidescan and 4” 2d at the counsel rebuilt transom with extra float pods not the newest boat on the water but solid and no loan payment. Photo was taken before the float pods were installed it’s also got a new clear coat on it to shine it up some I also have a 8’ plastic pontoon and kayak both share a 35lb trolling motor for small ponds
  7. Yes the previous owners kid left out side at his house the last few years he owned it
  8. I bought the boat 6 years ago for 2000$ I’m just at the point where I know it should be faster I see lots of posts about 350v’s going 50-60 and I’m wondering why mine won’t I’m thinking it’s got to be water logged or maybe it’s the prop it’s got a high 5 on it
  9. Just wondering what people are running for props and how they like them
  10. Is there anyway to dry out or check the flotation foam in a bass boat without pulling the whole thing apart I think my flotation foam must be waterlogged Carrying around hundreds of pounds of extra weight and why my boat is so slow it’s an old ranger 350 V and I can only get to about 43 miles an hour when another forums I’ve heard of people running 50 to 60 any ideas would be appreciated
  11. Thanks everyone I appreciate it I think I’m just going to go Hydrolic so I don’t have to pull the motor
  12. Yeah my boat don’t run 50 it tops out at 43 I run 28-30 mph 99% of the time
  13. So I have a ranger 350v that has 2 steering cables running to the motor the steering is ungodly hard to turn because one of the cables is gummed up or bent or something but when I unhooked it from the wheel to pull out and measure the steering was infinitely better I’m just wondering if I have to have 2 or is one good enough I would love to not have to buy a new cable or system if I don’t have to really don’t want to try and fish new cable’s through either any body out there running just one?
  14. I went through this same thing years ago I was looking at gen 1 panoptix or spotlock, auto pilot TM. I went with panoptix a year later I got spotlock, autopilot and the TM was more of a game changer than panoptix. Now you could probably get a used TM and Garmin UHD 73sv for 1500$ on facebook just my 2 cents
  15. Hi, I live in Northwest Iowa I am tired of the ice and getting ready to head south to try and find open water. Can anyone tell me where the open water starts? And if the fishing has been any good?
  16. Okay thanks I’m planning on getting a new tachometer put in or getting this one hooked up and having them double check everything it’s just every shop in the area is booked till mid to late august
  17. Soft plastics like tubes and swim baits in and around rocks
  18. I recently put a mercury optimax 200hp on my boat I did it all by myself and am very surprised that it’s not any faster than the 150hp Blackmax that was on it I’m wondering if anyone has ever upgraded power and not got a boost in speed the new motor is a 2002 rebuilt in 2008 with 110 compression the old was a 1988 with 105 compression before it blew I put the same prop on the new motor a high five not sure the pitch also I should say that I’m not sure what rpms I’m running as I don’t know how to hook up the tachometer plus I don’t think it works at least never since I’ve owned the boat anyway thanks for any help or response
  19. I have a a striker 4 cv and I love it only problem is the size. in split screen it’s to small to see even when sitting @ the counsel but when in single screen mode it’s fine so if you can get a larger screen I have the same problem with my 7” when using 3 screens at once
  20. Garmin striker has a gps without actual maps but you can set it to draw lines so all you have to do is follow your line back to the ramp 4” model 120$ I’ve had mine 6 years no problems and I think they go go 7”
  21. Not sure but I think your describing a split level transom if so mount it on the bottom of the top level should work fine at speeds below 25 mine does good luck ?
  22. Do you have any sonar now if so use it another season save up and go big hummingbird 360 or live sight very much worth it I ran a 4” striker for 3 years then got panoptix it’s so much better to see out the front and side’s without having to float or drive over the structure or fish
  23. Definitely looks like a rock pile with a school of fish to the left. One way to get to know your sonar is to get a underwater camera and drop it down when your not sure what your sonar is showing you after a few times you will know exactly what your sonar is showing you without the camera Amazon has some for 100$ worth every penny
  24. I have a garmin striker 4 cv and I can see an ice jig and wax worm in 25’ of water in traditional mode with a-scope on the side but you have to be right on top of it and any deeper than 30’ you have to turn the gain to high and get to much returns keep trying to adjust your transducer or the location of your jig compared to where your transducer might be pointed depends on water clarity but 69-80 gain should be plenty
