  1. Southern Illinois here about to go try and do some fishing dor 3 hours or so. Got some nicer weather this week bass should start biting. Caught a couple last sunday one was 6 pounds. Hoping to catch some more with this warmer rain we had.
  2. Went today for 4 hours first real trip of the year here in southern Ill. Buddy caught one just under 2 pounds. And I caught 2 with one just over 2 pounds and this 6 pound stud. Smaller fish on chatterbaits and the big one here on a h20 express lipless crank.
  3. About 500 this winter for bass gear. Got my first 2 baitcasters, lures, line, terminal tackle, spinnerbait box. But hopefully I'm set for the next 18 months other than maybe a bag or two of soft plastics i may run out of. I'm sure I'll find somethin to buy lol. Now I just got to make sure my crappie gear, catfish gear, white bass and sauger gear Is fully stocked up lol. Gotta love fishing
  4. Your gonna get a few answers and probably a more detailed one depending on location of the country and types of places you fish on the lake. I fish medium action 3/8 ounce and under and anything over that is medium heavy to heavy. If I'm fishing frogs or in thick grass and stuff like that medium heavy. This Is just the way I fish. Someone else will chime in on this with more detailed explanations but this has always worked fine for my type of fishing and lakes.
  5. That is awesome! Me and a couple people fished this pond about 15 years ago. A buddy caught this one eyed bass. He was released and we decided to nickname him "one eyed willy". And we actually all ended up catching him one time a piece over the next 2 years. Another thing that's cool is Stephen Douglas had a catfishing channel on YouTube he was out fishing in a video and catches this nice flathead that has a specific weird feature I can't remember.someone posted in his comments of the same location of the river with the same fish that was caught after that video was out. I thought that was pretty cool.
  6. The finest gift you can give to any fisherman is to put a good fish back, and who knows if the fish that you caught isn't someone else's gift to you?
  7. This Jerk rat below, buzzbait, a bladed jig, and a Texas rigged worm will probably be the first things to throw this post spawn. If i had to choose a favorite that I hope they bite then probably the Buzz bait. Of course if those don't work then probably rattle traps and crankbaits will be thrown in the mix.
  8. I don't blame them lol. The one I'm seeing on eBay 6 of us is bidding on so I can see it either taking a while to get one or get expensive getting it. Stripping and repainting one may be my best bet
  9. Thanks for all the replies.
  10. Thanks for taking the time to look. It really surprised me some on out there doesn't. But like he said clown color has become more popular. I just want one. I caught so many fish on a red/white pop r. It's just a personal thing on why I want it. Mainly the memories. I'm sure there's a ton out there that will catch em just the same Thanks for the help guys I appreciate you all taking the time to respond and even go out your way to look for me.
  11. Ya I figured since i can't find it anywhere. I'll find one. Following a bid on eBay as long as it don't get too unreasonable I'll get it
  12. I fish a pond similar to the one your talking about. You either catch a 1 pound bass or a 5 to 6 pounder. It's weird. I haven't caught anything in between. Maybe a couple at pound and half. The only thing I can catch the big ones on has been big lizards or a chatterbait with a bigger trailer. I've thrown alot of baits but a swim bait hasn't been one.YET. lol.
  13. Just came across these. Was wondering if anyone has used the pro snake or pro shad by producto lures and if you had any luck. Thanks
  14. Eggroll, Alright that does make more sense. I just figured I'd ask. I just dont want to get responses of why is this 5 year old thread being brought back up or this thread is dead. Just sometimes the thread may be dead but that topic to some fisherman isn't you know what i mean. So i figured I'd ask the people thats been on this forum for years what they would prefer in that situation
  15. Alright cool. There's so much thats been talked about on here and covered. It's amazing. I love that anyone can come here most questions have been answered but everyone on any subject can do it a different way or may have a different approach, tactic, tip, idea that may have been covered in a thread but at the same time there's so many members on here that maybe only a few actually answered and other topics came up and that topic got buried in the graveyard And maybe someone didnt see it or they learned a new trick or tip since then that may be beneficial to other members or myself. theres also posts that I would like to add a tip or 2 on. But this topic was discussed in 2013 or the thread was last replied on However there may be 10 other threads on It since then that may have given the tip I'm trying to give people. But i honestly dont want to scroll through pages of 10 different threads to see if anyone has given the advice I'm trying to give or scroll through 10 different threads with multiple pages each just to find an answer I'm looking for sometimes. Id rather just ask and communicate. than spend time hunting it down.
  16. Well I'm also wondering if its a topic that's been created is it better to bring that post back from the dead or create a new one if i want to talk about it or ask questions on it.
  17. Theres alot of info and good questions asked on threads and threads created on this site. So i notice when I read some of these threads i read aome responses like ah another one of these questions or you should search the forums or they give a link to something to read. Well at times I have a question about a post that may be years old on here. Or I want to ask certain topic that was asked a while back. Now I get alot of answers covered in some of these threads but where my questions come in. Is it worse to reply on an old thread that's been created and ask a question to maybe what they were talking about to get an answer or to just create a new thread about the same or very similar subject? before i recently joined here I could view every topic I didn't even have to be a member here. I joined to talk about fishing, lures, and to meet people. Another question is even if maybe a topic has been discussed is it wrong of me to create a topic to talk about a lure that may have another person's view on the matter that wasn't a member 6 months or years ago or even a month ago talk about a topic with me that may have a different opinion. I'm just asking because I want to discuss alot of subjects and I love talking about fishing and the main reason i joined was to talk about it. Otherwise I could of just typed in google bass resource favorite time to throw a rattletrap as an example and seen the 18 different threads on it thats been created already. I just want to know when Is It good to discuss old topics or create new ones thats been discussed before since most have already? Thanks
  18. Do you know what brand by chance?
  19. I went to bass pro shops, cabelas, and academy sports today just to get out. I was hoping to find an old favorite of mine that was discontinued. The closest I found in color was by heddon. Not really what i was wanting. Was wondering if anyone knows where to find a white bodied pop-r with a full red head? I'm searching online now that I couldn't find one at those 3 places and I'm still not finding anything. Million colors out there weird I can't find a simple one like this. Uploading a photo of what I'm after or similar. It may be a long shot but figured I'd ask.

  23. Unless I missed a post in that thread I didn't see anything on if a suspending jerkbait that will suspend in 40 degree water if it will at 45. What water temperature did this guy test his suspension at? I'm mainly wondering if it'll stay suspending at different depths or if you got to set different jerkbaits for certain temperatures. surely water temp has an impact every few degrees
  24. Rapala husky jerk and a lucky craft pointer 95. What temps does your bait suspend at? Let's say I add weight do I try to test line in water at lets say 40 degrees and I get it to suspend if i get to the lake and water temp is 45 degrees will it still suspend
  25. Hey, was just wondering if anyone has fished this tennessee lake. I'm trying to find out if this is a clear water lake. It doesnt look like it on some photos ive seen but im just wondering about the lakes water clarity
