  1. Found out I will be spending a week up near the "big" city of Findlay OH the first part of August for some training...Doesn't look like there is much else to do around the area but I have heard there might be some decent reservoirs to check out..Anyone got any experience up in that neck of the woods?
  2. well for me about the only time I use a baitcaster is bait fishing on the bottom..so, 7ft and then straight down lol
  3. I see a lot of folks saying MH...I'm curious as to why the need for that much backbone on a bass rod? Most of my fishing is done with a M or ML, and I use the same rods for inshore trout and redfish. The only time I use a heavy rod is fishing down in the Oklawaha with shiners with a float under the lilly pads...That's only because your bringing up so much "salad" with the fish lol Not knocking anyone's tactics..just honestly wondering
  4. Family vacation to Disney, Had a couple hours between trips to the parks while the kids were enjoying the pool, caught 4 this was biggest and lost another about the same size to a beautiful headshake on the top of the water lol
  5. I've got several of the H2O express rattle trap type and have had better luck with them than the actual Rat L Trap..and the price is MUCH better
  6. Oh yeah! good times All those creeks from St Augustine up to Brunswick are all the same, fish like you've been doing and have a good time. Like Mike said that little Jon might be an advantage
  7. I'd love to give that ice fishing a try one day...but man that sure looks too cold for this South GA boy lol
  8. I have a 6500 spinfisher that is dedicated to one thing for inshore...bull reds in the fall, anything else is either a 2500 or 3000
  9. Inshore and Offshore are hard to fit into one rod, like bigbassin said, for most inshore fish a bass rod would work fine. That Daiwa is a good size versatile reel if you are only going to have one saltwater reel, but casting it all day is gonna wear you out if your using artificials. I like Ugly stik, Calico Jack is good too in that same price range 6' 6" medium heavy or even a 7' would cover a wide range of possibilities. May be a bit under powered for some, and a bit over powered for others...but a wide range of just right. Caught this one on an Ugly stik inshore select 7' Medium light, wouldn't have been my fish choice but since trout was our target species its what I had in my hand and it got the job done
  10. Spend the last couple days in cedar key...caught my first topwater redfish, my biggest redfish, and got my brother on his first redfish and his biggest trout. Tore up the trout, reds over all were a little more tight lipped. Also hooked two big black drum on artificials I lost the other one after about a 10 minute fight, we went out today looking for topwater trout lol
  11. this was the main reason I almost went with the Ulterra instead of the Terrova, decided in the end it just wasn't worth it..sometimes I regret that decision lol
  12. I've caught one on a fly rod once, only because he hit a live cricket I was using to catch bream with lol. Now let me explain..I bought a fly rod, nothing fancy by most standards, just to use on our trips up to the mountains every year...and in an attempt to practice with it I took it out instead of my trusty bream buster..did well and had a blast catching blue gill, red breast, warmouth..the usual sunfish you catch on crickets here in the summer. Well as Mr Cricket scuttled his way to the shore after a particularly ugly 10 yard cast per my norm...the surface exploded and 2 1/2 lb largemouth decided he looked tasty
  13. in my opinion get any outboard you like...as long as its a Yamaha
  14. Rods: Ugly Stik Reels: Shimano or Quantum Lines: Power Pro Leader : Berkley vanish Fluorocarbon Hooks-not real finicky except for jig heads...I only use the ones they sell at Strike Zone made locally Soft Plastics: DOA or Bass Assassin Hard baits- Heddon or Rapala
  15. Kansas City gets my vote for the best BBQ in the country...was there for 4 days a couple years back and are at 7 different BBQ places...they know how to make a fat man happy
