The reservoirs of the Tennessee River have IMPROVED DRAMATICALLY over the past
twenty years. Pickwick was known locally as the Dead Sea a few decades ago. Today
some of us are hunting the next world record smallmouth!
Well, since I have never caught a Maine bass, I don't know from personal experience.
What I do know is that "Southern" bass fight much harder than the northern bass I have
caught. Of special note are bass I have tangled with at Lake Fork in Texas.
Not the case on the Tennessee River. This is a busy commercial river with big boats
and lots of activity. Our fish are there to party! For example, you need a big splash when
casting to get their attention. Stealth rarely comes into play.
