    You should head up river and target pike! The river is hard to fish from shore due to all the mud but there are a bunch of pike in it.

    I've used blade baits in my local lakes in NJ as soon as the ice is gone and have had mixed results. More often than not they produce but it really depends upon water temp.

    Not sure if this is too far but Ramsey Outdoors is a great store. They have 2 locations in NJ, first is in Ramsey and the second is in Succasunna.
