  1. I prefer to watch the largemouth tournaments where multiple techniques are in play. Champlain has been OK with a few guys targeting largemouth. St. Lawrence for me is a snoozefest with everyone doing the same livescope deal.
  2. One thing I’ve learned after dabbling in high end Loomis rods for a few years… the NRX is crazy sensitive, but it doesn’t make me feel any extra bites that I wouldn’t feel on my exprides. The exprides are above average and plenty sensitive. If it were me, I’d buy another Expride and save $400.
  3. I’ve got the gizzard Shad pattern. Have had some success so far, but nothing to write home about. If I had FFS I think I would catch more fish on it. Gets a lot of follows, but the fish don’t always commit.
  4. Recently picked up an Old Town Sportsman PDL 106 kayak and I’m wanting to mount a Helix 7 on the rail. Had a few questions for those with a similar set up: will side imaging work on this kayak or will I get interference from the hull/PDL drive? should I mount the transducer directly to the universal transducer mount on the kayak or purchase some other type of scupper or 3D printed mount?
  5. Love the baby brush hog on the back of a c-rig. Been wanting to try the midsize brush hog. Anyone throwing it?

    Hair jigs

Looking to try some hair jigs on a local lake. I’m talking the big, fluffy “preacher” jigs for ledge fishing rather than the finesse hair jigs for smallmouth. what are some of your favorite brands and sizes? Will pretty much be sticking to white.
  7. Most of my rods that are rated “heavy” that I use for pitching and flipping have max ratings between 1-1.5 oz. I don’t have any that I’d consider “meat” sticks because (1) I don’t have super heavy cover where I’m at that warrants this type of rod and (2) I’m fishing for fish that are normally 2-4 lb, with a rare 5-6 lber a few times a year. No double digits where I’m at.
  8. Looking for a unit to mount on a kayak that has GPS mapping, SI, and DI. Screen size does not need to be large. what’s the best bang for the buck unit capable of this? Brand does not matter.
  9. @AlabamaSpothunter whatever you do, don’t reel that bait as fast as you can and burn it. Never works ?
  10. Slightly but noticeably less than the zolo brawler or powerbolt… haven’t fished a 7’6-8’0 heavy rod that wasn’t at least a little bit tip heavy.
  11. Yes 1/2 oz and up in my opinion. I was usually around the 1 oz mark. It handled up to a 2 oz glide bait fine, but I wouldn’t go over that.
  12. I have the enox shock. This rod can handle some pretty heavy weights, well above its rating. I use mine for light punching/flipping and some lighter a-rig work. It’s got a lot of backbone for setting the hook and fighting fish but still bends fairly deep into the blank to help keep fish pinned. That’s my favorite characteristic of most of the ALX rods I own. I had the brawler but did not like it. It was pretty tip heavy in my hands. Have been debating on posting the Shock in the marketplace since I don’t use it as often as I used to. Feel free to shoot me a pm if you’re interested.
  13. I use the 7’2 ml spinning as my spinning rod for jerkbaits. Has a great action for 110s, stunnas, and rogues but I wouldn’t want to throw anything larger.
  14. Looking for a 6th sense flow glider 130 in any Shad pattern. Let me know if you have one!
  15. Looking for a 7” shine glide in Shad patterns. Let me know what you have!
  16. I would like to see professional circuits allow FFS during practice, but not during the tournament. As a fan in the stands, I’ve personally lost some enjoyment especially during smallmouth dominated events when guys are staring at their screen the whole time on air. just my two cents though.
  17. Looking to replace a few spinning reels. What are your favorite sub $200 reels in the 2500 or 3000 size? Would like to stick with daiwa or Shimano. Anyone try the new miravels?
  18. Gamma polyflex is a nice option. Pretty low stretch and manageable in the low pound tests. It does run a bit thicker than other brands, so you’d probably want 6-8 lb on a spinning reel.
  19. I fished one the other day for the first time. I was pretty impressed. Held its own, if not performed slightly better, than a vision 110 for me. The fish seemed to like the slow sink that day.
  20. Go play in the thick stuff with a 1+ oz tungsten ?
  21. Now that it’s been out for a while, who throws the stunna 112 or 112+1? Picked up a few during the Purefishing sale. Won’t be able to fish them until spring, but they look decent. What do you like/dislike most about them? How do they stack up against some over the other tried and true jerkbaits?
  22. I haven’t tried the drift walker yet, but I love the cane walkers. For $3 during the sale that is tough to beat!
  23. Pure fishing got me for my 3rd order today ?. They’re practically giving stuff away!
  24. I have two 7’2 MH Expride A, and three 7’6 MH. The 7’6 rod is my favorite rod that I own. Like others have said, it’s on the slower side of fast, but definitely not a moderate fast action. I use it for football jigs and light flipping. The 7’2 MH is super versatile. To me it feels slightly stiffer than the 7’6 rod. I use it for pitching docks, light cover, worms, spinnerbaits, etc.
