  1. I'm using thread. I just need it out of the way so I can wrap the thread around the collar.
  2. If you're going to be spending the money on a full BPS 100 MPH, I'd get a Gill FG21 instead.
  3. I self tie jigs on my spare time. The last bundle I bought, didn't have the weed guard in. I had to glue it in. I really like Omega heads, so I bought some bulk heads to split with someone. I've encountered one problem, the Omega heads have the weed guard built in already. What's an effective way to hold back the weed guard while tying the jigs? I've tried a paperclip, but maybe mine suck or I'm bending it wrong.
  4. That's great! How long have you been using the red one? Does the durability seem to last?
  5. +1 for Loctite Gel Super Glue. Works like a charm.
  6. What we do is weigh all fish caught, but the final weight only counts with the 5 heaviest fish. We don't have to measure length limits, everyone usually gets a weight, and if you're having a good day, it keeps you from having to weigh the tiny fish. You can just say "nope, not 2 pounds." and toss it back.
  7. Is your cost, under $150, a limit per unit or total?
  8. Thanks for all the input! It looks like the Dobyn's swimbait rod is the rod of choice.
  9. With the heavier rods, can you feel the swimming action of the a-rig, or is it more stiff and you just feel the extra weight when you have a fish?
  10. I'm going to purchase a rod for an A-rig soon, but I'm having trouble deciding which one to pick. I'm hoping some of you who have fished A-rigs more in the past and have had experience with different setups, could guide me in the right direction. Here are links to the rods I'm looking at: http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Dobyns_Fury_Casting_Rods/descpage-DFC.html https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/catpage-STCROIXRODS.html?from=basres I'm undecided between: Dobyn's Fury 7'6" Med Heavy Dobyn's 7'9" Med Heavy Swimbait St. Croix Mojo Bass 7'6" Med Heavy. Differences I've noted: Rod Action Dobyn's Both fast St. Croix Moderate fast Lure Weight Dobyn's 1/4 - 2 oz for 7'6" 1 - 5 oz for 7'9" St. Croix 3/8 - 1 1/4 oz. Just by looking at the numbers the Dobyn's rods seem to be more inline with throwing heavy A-rigs, but I know people who use lighter end rods and still throw A-rigs with it. I prefer using more sensitive and lighter rods, so my intuition leads towards getting the St. Croix, and I also think I would get more use out of the St. Croix since it could also be used as another jig rod. Before making a decision, I want to hear from others who have experience with A-rigs. Some of you might say the Dobyn's rods aren't as stiff as they sound, or may say that you want to sacrifice the sensitivity for power.
  11. I once bought some Nichols MBP swimbaits on sale from TW. They came in some clear acrylic/PVC type tubes with end caps on them. Ever since then I've been storing Keitech's like that. I'd have to get the exact dimensions of the tube, but I store 2 packs of 3.8 inch or 4.3 inch no problem. If you get thick enough tube you can throw them around and do whatever with them, without worrying about the tails folding over, etc. I can post some pics later.
  12. I too have sometimes had a Paca Chunk lose the pincers when dipping it in JJ's. It only happened with one bag and I haven't had it happen since. The power of JJ's is always worth the test dip to me. On the Z-Man note, yeah.... JJ's and Z-Man don't get along well. I've tried dipping the trailers that come with chatterbaits before. They dissolve into several pieces almost instantly.
