  1. Temperatures reached an all time high in the Article Circle, with 100.4*F being recorded in one Siberian town. Climate change is totally a hoax though (sarcasm). I was bank fishing a couple of days ago. The last temperature reading that I took was 90*F. I drank 2 bottles of water before heading out and 3 more while I was there. After a couple of hours I felt like I was going to pass out and had to sit in the shade to recover before leaving. I got home and felt sick and was urinating what looked like an orange sports drink even after all of that water. Be very careful.
  2. Imagine paying $500 for a spinning reel that isn't any different than any other spinning reel $150 and up, other than the ugliness.
  3. It's funny reading threads like this and realizing just how little we actually know and how contradictory we are. Fishing from the bank we are told that if we can see the fish, they can see us and won't bite and to stand as far back as possible. With wading the consensus is that our presence does not scare the fish.
  4. Senko and Fluke
  5. It seems like you're buying a rod every day lol
  6. A medium heavy and a medium power casting rods with fast or moderate fast actions, and a medium power spinning rod with a fast action are always my first three choices and will accomplish the most for you while bank fishing. Once you add a fourth setup, it's my opinion that you go to one extreme or the other: a heavy power casting rod with a fast action or a medium light power spinning rod with a fast action; depending entirely on where you fish, what your target is, and what you like to do. In your case, based on location and species, I'd go with a ML/F spinning setup. All in 6'6" to 7'. Reel gear ratio and sizes is entirely your choice.
  7. The 705CB Fury is a whip. I'd say poppers would be great but I wouldn't be throwing buzzbaits and chatterbaits on it.
  8. Dirty Jigs for swimjigs and RI Dippers and SK Menaces for trailers.
  9. This thread is one of many reasons I highly disagree that a true fast action rod is the best all around ?‍♂️ in almost every instance give me a rod that is either labeled as or performs as a MF with a strong backbone.
  10. 4/0 Gammy EWG
  11. 3 power for the 90 (1/2oz) 4 power for the 75 (5/8oz) I'd use a 5 power for the 110 (1oz). I never use the 130. A WP doesn't need a specific rod, just whatever you have that can accommodate the weight. It's got stout, sticky trebles.
  12. It sounds to me, like all companies, they wanted to make sure their rod actually had a defect and wasn't broken by negligence. And of course now COVID-19 has the whole industry messed up along with everything else. Well, fine. I won't try to tell you what your experience was because I'm not you, but this is very unusual.
  13. Fenwick is great. This is all COVID-19 related. They're generally known for some of the best customer service in the industry.
  14. A 4 power Dobyns is only a noodle if you compare it to other company's versions of Heavy. It really is a MH+.
  15. Gammy Octopus Circle in 1/0, 99% hookup and land rate
  16. If they ever made laws getting rid of fishing I wouldn't be law abiding
  17. Lew's Speed Spool, Shimano SLX, Daiwa Fuego but it's bigger
  18. A dink who had no business trying to eat that 5 inch plastic with a 4/0 hook
  19. My girlfriend says she knows of a little mom and pop tackle shop in a small town close to me so I'm going to give that a shot. If I could at the very least get my hands on some select colors of Little Dippers that would be great. It's all I ask at this point really. It's a complete joke that I haven't been able to get my hands on Flukes or Senkos around here in colors that I like. Everything is picked over with just a few bags of odd ball colors left that I would have zero confidence in and that I've never seen anyone using. Maybe those will be fish catchers if you really think a out it. Who knows.
  20. 95% of my jigs bites come off black and blue. I can fish the same jig and trailer in a different color (green pumpkin, for example) in the same spot and get nothing. But I switch to black and blue and it's game on. This is the case on every body of water I have fished from Illinois to Indiana. The thing that really boggles my mind a little is that this is regardless of water clarity. From crystal clear (where it would make the least sense) to murky (where it would make sense). I have no experienced this phenomenon with other baits. Just jigs. They want it in black and blue. Of course none of us really knows what the fish are thinking so this will all be theories.
  21. I guess I'm an elitist in the sense that bass fishing only feels right with artificial lures.
  22. Never lol. If it ain't artificial, it ain't a sport, and I'm not here for it haha. I'd rather take chicken livers for catfish than fish with worms and get 50 gills and 99/100 annoyance.
  23. It was a Daiwa Aird-X MH/F rod with 12LB Big Game, but that's changing tomorrow. I had a bad experience with a couple of Fury rods last year and sold them all out of frustration, but I have missed my 3 power. My awesome girlfriend, knowing this, ordered me one. I'm going to strip the 12LB Big Game and put 10LB YZH on my Speed Spool with the Fury 703C. So I'll list that and my best baits so far this year which haven't changed. Dobyns Fury 703C Lew's Speed Spool LFS 6.8:1 Yo-Zuri Hybrid 10LB Dirty Jigs Finesse Jig 5/16oz Strike King Baby Rage Craw Trailer Zoom Super Fluke (new confidence bait for me this season) 3/0 Gammy EWG 5" Senko T-Rig or Wacky (Yes, I've been throwing a Senko Wacky on casting gear this year with slightly heavier line than is used on spinning gear. I haven't noticed a difference in bites and it's more enjoyable.) 3/0 Gammy EWG - 1/0 Gammy Octopus Circle
  24. I need a lot of hard baits and soft plastics as my stash has dwindled down quite a bit so far this season. Walmart has been out of everything. Dick's is out of everything. The nearest Bass Pro is over 2 hours away. And our trusty Tackle Warehouse is out of soooooooo much stuff that won't be available again in some cases until August. What's a guy to do?
  25. The best explanation of DC reels that I've seen is that they're not a replacement for the thumb but an assistant. I see no purpose in them either. An experienced angler has good thumb control and an inexperienced angler won't learn much on a DC reel. Pointless.
