  1. I hope I'm allowed to post this video. I'm not affiliated with The Fish Whisperer or trying to advertise for him in any way. This video is very educational.
  2. Doesn't impact you. Just the corporate suit and tie goons making millions off the little guys.
  3. TW is so good that I'm surprised it took you 3 times. As you said, what happens in shipping is out of their control, but still, they're great, and they made it right by you by the sounds of it.
  4. Nope. I used to be on the fluoro bandwagon to get any advantage I could. Didn't notice a difference and the line breaking sucked. And of course the idea that the line will scare the fish away but your shiny hook and weights and wires and all sorts of pieces to a lure won't is laughable. Total marketing gimmick. Line diameter matters more.
  5. Mustangs are always for the ladies.
  6. Outdoors Walmart... I mean Bass Pro... Can barely keep up with any other tackle shops, online or brick and mortar, when it comes to deals. They would have to say free to peak my interest.
  7. I wouldn't paint it. It works perfectly fine as is, looks aside. Don't fix what's not broke. You somehow mess up and have to get a new one, might as well have paid for a regular one at that point.
  8. I have a friend that fishes that way. I scold him every single time but somehow that's the only way it's comfortable to him. I just don't get it.
  9. Yeah everyone has a unique style. It's hard to describe my style or any one style. Just have to see it. Nobody will be the exact same. An example I can think of is I fish a Senkos differently than anyone I know. Guys will lift the rod and let it do it's seductive sink back down. Not me. Most of my bites, most of my aggressive strikes, and most of my bigger Senkos fish happen differently. I cast it out, let it sink, and then instead of lifting the rod, I give it a snap. To work the way I want it to I need to feel the snap in my rod, a connection to the bait. The Senkos darts erratically and then does the seductive sink. Sometimes I'll snap it 2 or 3 times before letting it sink.
  10. There's a video of me somewhere dancing to this Taylor Swift song while I was fishing. Didn't look much different than that flamboyant gif. My wife was fishing with me and she was jamming to it. I decided to have some fun with it.
  11. If someone has a problem with it just do this
  12. It was -58 degrees here in my part of Illinois today. 4 inches of snow coming tomorrow. On top of the piles of snow we already have. With this brutal deep freeze, polar vortex from the pits of hell, I've realized that ice out might come later than I was hoping. And yet, year after year, I choose to live in this crap hole. I just need warmth and open water. I open my eyes I try to see but I’m blinded by the white light I can’t remember how I can’t remember why I’m lying here tonight And I can’t stand the pain And I can’t make it go away No I can’t stand the pain How could this happen to me I made my mistakes I’ve got no where to run The night goes on As I’m fading away I’m sick of this life I just wanna scream How could this happen to me Everybody’s screaming I try to make a sound but no one hears me I’m slipping off the edge I’m hanging by a thread I wanna start this over again So I try to hold onto a time when nothing mattered And I can’t explain what happened And I can’t erase the things that I’ve done No I can’t How could this happen to me I made my mistakes I’ve got no where to run The night goes on As I’m fading away I’m sick of this life I just wanna scream How could this happen to me I made my mistakes I’ve got no where to run The night goes on As I’m fading away I’m sick of this life I just wanna scream How could this happen to me
  13. Good deal. At the end of the day, it's the same thing. My OCD wouldn't allow for it, but that's my own problem. I recently picked up 2 more Presidents for $30 each. A local business had a going out of business sale and fishing gear was half price. Unfortunately it was a Walmart knock off kind of a store and the Presidents were the only worthwhile buy. The only political thing I can say is, I'm surprised the angry leftist mob hasn't insisted that a Lady President is sexist and demanded it to be taken off the market. Oh (and but) if I could buy all purple reels I would. Purple is my favorite color. I just don't dig pink at all. And I wouldn't give a bleep what any insecure dude had to say about it.
  14. 75 and 110 only here
  15. I don't see a reason to move on from Power Pro.
  16. Otters can destroy a fishery. Shoot 'em.
  17. I get that you're asking about shallow water, but sometimes it isn't practical and rather than staying comfortable, you need to learn new things; in this case, going deeper.
  18. Bass being conditioned can clearly be seen in videos by The Fish Whisperer and Bamabass. TFW has trained bass in a private pond to feed out of his hands and wait for him by the banks. He's trained them to track food that is thrown out to them. He will throw a shad and you watch as the massive wakes track the shad in the air and then the bass explode on it immediately. Bamabass has conditioned his pet bass Moby. Moby knows when it's feeding time and behaves eerily like a dog when his owner is offering up treats. Bamabass also has 2 pet bass in a backyard pond who are trained the same.
  19. I think there's a very fine line here. Bass are not smart. But time on the water has proven time and time again that bass can become conditioned (as Sam actually just said) in some sense.
  20. Some as old as 8-10 years, some as new as this month.
  21. Believed in fluoro until I broke my leader off using a Ned Rig and had to fish it on straight braid. Catch rate didn't go down and I even got bigger fish after that. Of course straight braid didn't cause me to catch bigger fish, but that coincidence happened and I learned that it really doesn't matter to a degree* *if we're talking 8-15lb braid it's already so thin it doesn't matter. I'm all about copolymer for the most part anyways now.
  22. Left hand retrieve. I'm right handed. It's my strong hand. As such, it only feels comfortable to hold a rod and fight a fish with my right hand. 100 percent don't understand why back in the day companies thought right handed meant you reel right handed. Nope. Need that hand for doing the real work.
  23. Buddy and I recently talked about the danger we all take when we go fishing that nobody really thinks about. You'll never catch me in the water without a PFD. Don't care if it's 3fow.
  24. Some fishermen: fluoro, camo, walk around the pond hunting wabbits Other fishermen: braid with no leader, using the atrocity that is the Tokyo rig Everyone catching fish. Moral of the story : doesn't matter it's in your head
  25. Better man than I am. One of the first trillion dollar companies in the world who still pays their employees peanuts wouldn't get a peep out of me.
