  1. anyone fish Lake Allegan? From what I've read it seems pretty dirty. More small mouth than large. Any thoughts or experiences you can share? Thank you in advance!
  2. Looking to buy a house as far North as Saugatuck and as Far East as Battle Creek. What are some of the better lakes in that area? Any info is greatly appreciated!
  3. In another thread you mentioned you're new to fishing and that's why your asking a lot of questions. You are going to get some snark from posters. Ignore them. We were all in your place at one point and jumping into bass fishing can be overwhelming at first. Keep asking questions and read as many threads about your interests as you can. There are many people on this board with a wealth of knowledge who are incredibly helpful. With that said, there are many types of jigs and they all work but have different techniques. First ask yourself, how do you want to fish a jig? For me, I buy football, swim, flipping, bladed and finesse. Once you know the type of jig you want, imo, the most important thing is the hook. As has been mentioned, the BPS jig will work but the hook is probably garbage. Like many on here I buy all my jigs from Siebert Outdoors. The hooks are great and color selection is second to none.
  4. Also, saying 'murky' or 'dirty' is really subjective. How many feet visibility do you have? In my experience Flukes work great even if it's only a foot or two of visibility.
  5. My color advice was more general is scope. If you're talking flukes specifically I only use Pearl with the SK Caffeine Shads. It works for me in every water color.
  6. Don't over think it. Stained water use black/blue. Clear water use natural colors such as green pumpkin, watermelon, browns and whites.
  7. What do you use for a stand up jig?
  8. Which swing head are you using? And why do you add a split ring instead of tying direct? Thanks in advance!
  9. Very interesting. Never thought about this for a Ned rig but bet the presentation looks great. Any chance of making them on an EWG hook?
  10. Actually read quite a few of your posts discussing tubes. One in particular gave recommendations on sizes from 1/8 to 3/8oz. That was very helpful and I appreciate your knowledge on this board. I'm using the BPS Tender Tubes. Wanted a 3/0 hook so went with the 300E in 1/4oz. I also ordered the 300E in 1/8oz from Tackle Warehouse once I realized I forgot to order them. This will give me flexibility with the depth I fish. Plan on stupid rigging them. Also ordered the 100S which has the 3/0 hook with a rattle. Bite-Me threw in the 500E. I've fished tubes a bit. But really trying to commit to fishing them more this year.
  11. I read about their tubehead jigs here and ordered a couple of sizes. Before ordering I had a couple of questions so I gave them a call. The owner spent about 15 minutes on the phone with me discussing sizes, the places I fish and tube fishing in general. That is why I always shop with small business owners first. And to top it off he threw in a sample size free of charge for me to try. Can't wait to try these out!!
  12. One last question for you Glenn... what size cylinder weight do you use? I suppose you're going to say it depends on depth, wind, etc... But in general is there a good all around weight for say 5' to 15'? Thanks again!
  13. Thanks for the video Glenn. What size corky do you normally use to have the tube float? I'm not familiar with them. Thanks for the videos and info!
  14. The spine is probably 5-7 feet deep for the most part. At the end it falls off closer to 15 feet. So it's really two different areas. Sorry, should have been more specific. Do you think the 1/2 oz is heavy enough for the area at 15 feet? Really appreciate it.
  15. There is a lake that I fish that has a rocky spine running down the middle. Depth at the spine is about 5 to 15 feet and falls off each side to about 20 feet. Each side has lots of grass. Thinking about running a football head jig between the grass lines on the spine. But not sure what weight I need to keep the lure on the ground. Just don't have lot's of experience with football head jigs. Any recommendations? Thank you in advance!
  16. Thank you for posting this. Love fishing flukes and absolutely trying this.
  17. That looks great. How do finesse jigs fit?
  18. I use roboworm and netbait.
  19. Heading up there Friday. Anyone else have any tips? Just trying to put the boys in some fish. Thank you!! @derxanWe are staying about 1/4 mile North of Big Pappas Pontoon Rental. That inlet just North. Still recommend we hit the north side where the Wisconsin river intersects?
  20. Never used Bubble Gum but have used Morning dawn, which is a redder pink. Works great!
  21. Rage Bug in Bama Craw
  22. Can't find any bleach
  23. That very well may be. But by the time tungsten is shipped to an American company, stored and then sent to me based on my order I have nothing to worry about. At this point I'm just not comfortable ordering a product that is shipped directly from China. I'm sure it would be safe based on the time it takes to hit my front door, but just not comfortable with it yet.
  24. Siebert outdoors has a great selection. A little more expensive than omfishingsinkers but would rather support American company. Plus I don’t want anything from China shipped directly to my home.
  25. I've tried several types of stick baits, including Senkos. I never noticed one working better than others. When the fish are biting they hit whatever you throw, IMO. With that said I use Yum Dingers and have great success with them.
