  1. The barb will keep the plastic on the hook.
  2. One way is secure and the other is free swinging.
  3. I frog with 12 lb Big Game I don’t really have a dedicated setup up but I’d use 50 lb braid or if you want mono then 20 lbish mono.
  4. I’d hold off on the braid for now, or set your spool tension so that your lure slowly falls and start your brakes high and slowly work your way down with each cast and I think you would be fine. You should probably decide if you think you’re ready to try braid, when I first got my baitcaster I didn’t focus on catching fish, I just went out to practice with different lures, weights, etc.
  5. Is it truly harder to turn or is it not as free spinning? I have a Curado K and when I tighten the spool tension the handle is less free spinning but not exactly hard to turn.
  6. Go with about 15 or 17 lb Big Game. Braid would be a Big mistake, the thicker the line, the easier it will be to pick out a backlash. Good luck.
  7. Use thick mono, set brakes high and work your way down with each cast. Set the spool tension so the lure falls slowly, turn your brakes off before you set your spool tension.
  8. I agree, you can finesse bigger baits but I meant a finesse presentation on a smaller scale. I guess I meant small profile baits.
  9. Everything, and I’ve found that my Curado K casts both sides of the spectrum amazingly. I haven’t been fishing long, so there are many techniques I haven’t tried and I plan to try. I love topwater but it’s almost always windy here. Right now I fish, lipless cranks, weightless plastics, jigs, topwater and spinnerbaits. Anyone think that they will have diy spools for the Curado K in the near future? We don’t have big bass around here or a ton of cover.
  10. Shakespeare Durango, Fiberglass I can hit it off the dock and still not feel anything.
  11. I’d get a casitas over the caenan, the casitas has better brakes.
  12. I’ve got a Curado K and no rod yet, I have it on an old, cheap casting rod just to use. I want an all around setup, with about a medium power and a softer action. I found some Curado Rods on sale for $130 but I’m afraid that they won’t be able to cast lighter baits that well. I looked at a couple Dobyns Fury including the 734C and they all seemed really stiff. The rod I’m currently using has no lure rating and I’ve casted 1/10 oz Ned rig along with 1 1/2 oz lures and it’s worked well. Any casting rod recommendations sub $130?
  13. Green Pumpkin
  14. How are the Ochos? I tried SK’s regular stick bait and it sucked. I went through a whole bag without catching anything. I tried wacky, T-rig, and drop shot but nothing.
  15. Finesse is a technique, it’s presenting bass with small, light baits, like weightless plastics, shakey head, small jigs, beetle spins..
  16. I’d fish something with a vibration/rattle and worry less about color and more about noise or what will draw attention.
  17. What’s your favorite finesse lure/rig? (Besides the Ned rig.)
  18. I know I have everything in order right but once I put the side plate on, the thumbbar is screwed up when I tighten the drag.
  19. Yeah, I had it in the correct order. I really don’t know what’s going on, the thumbbar is fine without the side plate on.
  20. From top to bottom it goes fiber washer, cogged gear, main gear, fiber washer, washer?
  21. I had it on paper towels, I figured if I couldn’t get it back together I could use BR. The problem is this is my first time doing this and I’m 16.. Thank you but I have one more thing to try, someone helped me on here, I really appreciate your concern. The only thing is when I tighten the drag, the harder the thumbbar is to push down, what could be the problem? I can reel backwards as well...
  22. That might be it, I’ll tear it apart soon and find out. Thank you.
  23. The more I tighten my drag, the hard it is to push down. When I have my drag loose, the thumbbar is easy to push, is there any correlation?
  24. I cleaned up my Curado 200K, now when I tighten the drag the thumbbar gets progressively harder to push as the drag gets tighter. What could be the problem?
  25. It’s what’s preffered, some like spinning for bass and some like casting for bass. Casting gear isn’t required at all, many people just like to use them more than spinning.
