  1. Are we talking the felt washers or the two small washers above?
  2. Well, when you install them like this (( or )) and tighten the nut too much it might bend them, they are installed right but I may have bent them. Overgreased, maybe.
  3. I think I bent parts 5376 on my Curado 200K when I cleaned it, could this weaken the drag on it? I don’t think it is as strong as before but I haven’t tested it.
  4. Curado’s don’t have magnetic brakes, they meant small adjustments like wind for the external dial. Most people won’t adjust their spool tension and brakes for every lure change.
  5. Maybe your rod? Frogs are light and not aerodynamic, the Curado does well with heavier hard baits though.
  6. Line thickness matters, heavier lines are thicker and harder to backlash, also easier to pick out. Mono is the thickest line for it’s # test.
  7. How long did you try to set it up? The reel could be defective or it’s not adjusted right. What lures and weights are you using?
  8. If you’re going to use the reel for cranks, I’d definitely get the Curado. At first, dialing it in was difficult but once you do, you won’t have to adjust the spool tension or brakes unless you want to or you fish a much heavier or lighter lure. I have my spool tension set so a crankbait falls at a decent speed and my internal at 2, external at 3. One reason I didn’t want magnetic brakes is because you lose some distance with them but Daiwa’s Magforce is different than most. Adjusting the brakes on a Curado K doesn’t take that long compared to an external magnetic.
  9. Carbon is a sort of a “raw” material, it’s more durable than graphite, but I wouldn’t say that’s completely true everywhere, just for the most part. Graphite is basically carbon but cooked or heated up more than carbon, and that makes it brittle compared to carbon.
  10. I don’t think it affects much, it’s just an aesthetic and maybe a line capacity issue but with the deep spool, it wouldn’t matter a whole lot.
  11. I usually have my spool tension set so a crankbait falls slowly, I think it was a 1/2, 3/4, or 5/8 oz crank and my brakes set to 2 internally and 4 externally and I don’t have to adjust it ever, from Ned rigs, Cranks and less aerodynamic baits. All about the same distance.
  12. If it’s the right side that has more line and it’s very insignificant, don’t worry about it. Make sure you use the internal pins and external dial. What lure weights are you using? Have you oiled the brake drum?
  13. Cranks, Frogs and pitching? For crankbaits most people use a Medium Moderate Action rod, graphite or composite being a preference. Frogs need a heavier/faster rod to get a good hookset and to horse the fish and weeds in. I’m afraid you’ll be reeling in what’s left of the bass if you use a crankbait on a pitching/frog rod.
  14. So just Jigs and plastics? Would that be two separate reels or just one for both? If it was me I’d use just one for both.
  15. x2 on the DC from the information given, what are you going to use the reels for?
  16. The fish don’t care what color your rod is, but if you do, that’s fine. If I were you, I’d worry about the taper too, you don’t want a Moderate action with Jigs and Frogs. You could look at Dobyns Colt also.
  17. St. Croix Rods aren’t bad but there are lighter rods out there and G. Loomis Rods aren’t in your price range.
  18. How heavy of lures are you going to use?
  19. I don’t think they all can be fake, just different conditions..? Not much help with your drag issue and I’m almost sure it’s not but I have to ask is the braid slipping?
  20. Why the Mojo over the Dobyns Fury? I’ve heard more great things about Dobyns than the Mojo, but they both have positive reviews.
  21. We can’t talk about them because.... site owners not abiding by the rules of the forum, or over-zealous pro-staffers spamming the forums. In some cases, however, the site owner specifically requested that we do not link to their site. Pulled from the FAQs, I think.
  22. The Curado’s levelwind is fine, mine does it too. I wouldn’t worry about it, especially with that deep spool. The dial just needs used more and it’ll loosen up or take a screwdriver and loosen the screw slightly.
  23. Yeah, for line get like 17# Berkley Big Game, it’s less than $10 for 900 yards.
