  1. What line do you fish it on?
  2. Now that I’ve got your attention, are they worth the extra money? They seem way over hyped. One of their glide baits is almost $100?!? I’d consider buying their cheaper baits around $20. I’ve bought a savage gear duck and I like it, bass seem to fighting a lot with it. Anything special about megabass? Worth it? Would you purchase anymore?
  3. What are those swimbaits? Which Daiwa rod is that btw?
  4. The only thing I’d worry about is the strength of it.
  5. Your wallet might become as thin as the tippet I think that’s giving the fish too much credit, they don’t care what line you use.
  6. It’s okay, you’ll learn your way around
  7. I’d spool it right like right before you go fishing, a day or two. Fluorocarbon gets coiled badly. This thread should be in the Fishing Line,... btw. Fluoro doesn’t breakdown in UV like mono does. I don’t know if this will help with Fluoro but if you put mono in hot water while spooling, it looses the line up and reduces coils, you could probably try it with fluorocarbon.
  8. On the duck, the bat’s wings will bend too
  9. Apples to oranges. You can only compare the IM rating of a rod to other rods in that company. A Lew's rod with IM8 graphite will definitely be more sensitive and have higher quality graphite than an IM7. There are many components that go into rod, resins.... the list goes on. I like to learn as much as I can about a product before I buy it but I gave up on learning about rod blanks, just too much information to learn and companies don’t give enough info. I’d go with the Vertias, it has a better reputation than Lew’s.
  10. The only thing I don't like is that the legs get bent, that stinks
  11. Sounds like you want a M/MH Moderate Fast rod. I've heard good things from Berkley Lightning Shock as well. I like my Scheel's Outfitters Rod for $40, they said they would back the rod no matter what as long as you provide proof of purchase, it's a little bit on the stiff side though. I think the Fuego would work too, I'd wait until Spring Sales and look around too.
  12. I wouldn't use it for crankbaits, what reel is it? You might be able to switch our the gears to a smaller gear ratio. I bought a 6.1:1 for general all around use. It's got enough torque for crankbaits but I can speed up if I need to as well. Do you have a rod?
  13. Try a Savage Gear Topwater Duck, I've caught 2 bass on it at once. I bought a Savage Gear Bat as well. I have yet to try it. I've also heard great things from the Spro RAT too.
  14. I'd use bigger lures, the little guys can't eat them. If the river is muddy, go for baits that have scent, vibration, etc. It'll attract fish better.
  15. If you want to spend $150-$200 on the reel alone then get a Curado 70 or a Daiwa CT SV. For a rod, you could get a cheap one at Walmart that loads 1/16 oz or Dobyns makes finesse rods for casting if you want higher quality. If you want to cast lighter and heavier lures then get a Daiwa Tatula SV TWS. You would be better suited to get a spinning combo, with spinning combos, it’s more about the rod than the reel. It’s pretty tough to find a bad quality spinning reel, in my opinion. I’d look at the line rating and lure rating of the rod while you decide the action.
  16. Where do you see the sales? It starts on the 16th.
  17. Of the pinion/drive gear?
  18. A lot better, I just wanted to know the cause of something like that happening. It seems odd that a reel that’s less than a year old would have problems already. Yeah, it was a grinding noise.
  19. It was making an odd noise, they replaced the drive gear, they replaced the pinion gear and they also replaced a ball bearing.
  20. I bought a Curado K and I sent it to Shimano because I felt there was something wrong with it. I didn’t fish it and it was still under warranty. I recently got it back and they replaced the drive, pinion and ball bearing. Anyone know what could have been the problem? @Delaware Valley Tackle
