  1. New rod and it’s winter...
  2. Younger Market for the CG80? It’s bright red, I’m pretty sure the SLX is geared towards the young generation as well so they could be competing with Shimano.
  3. Does it look like this?
  4. I’d go mono but it’s up to you, I’ve pulled some lures outta trees with 20# mono. Trees are about the only thing you have to worry about with your sonar.
  5. Braid on a spinning rod throwing heavy lures sucks, you’ll definitely get cut at some point and it burns. I throw my iBobber on a cheap $50 spinning combo rated for 1-8oz lures and switching to braid was a big mistake.
  6. Champion SMBT and Curado K, for the line capacity and the ability to launch baits I don’t have any experience with the other reels but I’d want a variety of gear ratios for those rods.
  7. The key word is probably, probably.
  8. It worked for me when I took my reel apart, I tightened the nut and there wasn’t any side to side play.
  9. IM graphite rating is a manufacturer standard, not industry so you can compare say an IM6 rod to an IM8 rod of the same brand but not two rods from different brands. The IM8 will probably be the better rod.
  10. Yes, did you tighten the nut? The handle shouldn’t wiggle if you tighten it enough.
  11. Easy fix, take off the little black screw on the handle nut cover and get a (9/10mm?) socket and tighten the nut until you feel no side to side play.
  12. I think that centrifugal brakes are better than magnetic, with the exception of Daiwa’s Magforce which is similar to centrifugal braking(from what I understand), but that’s my opinion. Magnetic brakes are applied throughout the whole cast and centrifugal brakes slow the spool down when it reaches a certain RPM. I’ve also noticed that there are fewer magnetic braked reels in the mid to higher end reels.
  13. I wouldn’t think it would be worth a brand new one, call St. Croix and ask how much you could get on a trade in, if possible.
  14. Small cranks, small treble hook lures
  15. What have you heard? The foregrip and composite cork looks familiar...
  16. I’m a little concerned about quality and warranty though.
  17. I can switch them to Cabela’s I’ve heard good things but I’m iffy about buying a house brand rod.
  18. I’m going to buy my first baitcasting rod, I wanted one high quality setup for everything at first but now I think I’d rather have a few than just one. I’d be fine spending $120(including $50 Bass Pro Gift cards) on a rod. I looked in store but nothing really caught my eye, I’m looking for a basic multipurpose rod specifically at BPS, most likely MHF. Any suggestions?
  19. You could use a barrel swivel or a snap swivel.
  20. The Avid X is a spinning and casting series, he’s talking about the casting model.
  21. My only baitcaster is a Curado K, I like it. If you plan to throw heavy baits with it, you’ll absolutely love it.
  22. There’s the Getterback, neat concept. $40 to save your setup. https://www.getterback.com/howitworks/
  23. Hm, a ~2 lb bass can tear drag but it’s really smooth, I’ll check it out before winter, thank you.
