  1. We just did La Cygne yesterday afternoon. There was 3 of us and we could not get a bite on LM bass. Said screw it and we went to the outlet and caught a ton of white bass, mostly under 15 inches. But we refused to be skunked at La Cygne. For the LM bass, we did the rip rap by the power plant all the way down to outlet. I was using cranks, one was using worm/jig, and the other guy was mixing it up with everything. We then went to the cove on far left side of the lake, again nothing. We then went up stream, still nothing. We did not use spinnerbaits at all, but I don't know if that would have made a difference. Talked to one other boater out there and he said the LM bite was horrible too.
  2. Made it to La Cygne on Monday. Tried drop-shot for the first time which will be a Work In Progress this fall for me. Caught my first bass ever on a drop shot, and boy that was fun!! Caught only 12-15in bass, all near the reeds. Was extremely windy that day so fishing on the rip-rap was a chore for my old boat and old trolling motor. Ending up going to the far northwest corner of La Cygne to get out of the wind. I didn't have luck there, but my buddy caught a couple of a texas rig worm. Also caught a big crappie on a crankbait, was going to take him home as daughter wants to learn how to filet a fish. Unfortunately my live well valve for draining water broke and could not keep water in live well; so had to throw crappie back in the lake. Another thing to fix on the old gal:( Will try to get out on Sunday to fish before the Chiefs games....
  3. Dude, that is awesome!!!!!
  4. Nicely done!! Just got back from Texoma doing some Striper fishing for the first time. That was an absolute blast!! Man, those stripers can put up one hell of a fight. Best was catching them on using top water lures. Those stripers would hit those top waters so hard that it felt as if they could rip the poles out of your hands. We caught 23 to keep, but actually caught around 35-40 but threw those back as we were wanting the larger Wind was horrible down there and my little 18ft Nitro couldn't handle the rip rap spots where the smallies hang out, so we didn't go after those. We did find some coves that shielded the wind so we caught a fair amount of largies, and a coup le were probably in the 3-4.5lb range.
  5. Thank you for the advice, I appreciate it!!
  6. My boat will be launched from the Buncombe Marina each day, so the north side Really don't know a whole lot about the lake yet.
  7. Went out for the first time in about a month. Went to Hillsdale Lake last Saturday evening and it was not good. There for about 4 hours and buddy and I only landed 3 baby bass. However, hooked a HUGE walleye by accident. Didn't have my net with me as I cleaned out the boat the night before and forgot to put it back in the boat!!! I fought it for about 5-7 minutes and was able to get it close to the boat. My buddy could not fit his hands around the walleye, not even close. Tried some towels and a pair of pliers, nothing worked. Walleye then went limp for a second, and at that exact time my line went slack and the hook came out. My buddy just about dived in to get it, but it swam away. I never fish for walleye, but I can tell you it was probably d**n near 30 inches long when it came up to the side of my boat. My buddy who has fished walleye for his whole life said it was probably a good 7+lb!! He agreed it was probably 25-30 inches because the d**n fish was longer then my buddy's shoulder to fingertips when he first bent down to strip and grab it. We were fishing in a little cove pretty much straight across from the main boat ramp. I was using a chatterbait and was only about 3 feet of water back in the flooded cove. Net was put in the boat as soon as I got home that night!! Going to Lake Texoma this weekend for a Guided Striper Bass outing, so that should be fun. Anyone else go to Texoma for LM or SM fishing??
  8. Hey guys, me and a couple of buddies are going down this weekend to Lake Texoma for a guide striper bass outing. However, the other 2 days we are fishing on our own and would like any advice or secrets you could PM me for LM and SM bass fishing. Where are the spots we should try, baits that work down there, etc. Never been there before, so we are super excited to go!!! TY!!
  9. Wow, can't believe it's been a year for this page and I was the last post!! Has anybody been up to WYCO Lake in the last couple of weeks?? Thinking about going up there this weekend but I haven't been there before... Any advice?
  10. Dude, that's awesome!! Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. Hey guys, anyone have a recommendation for a boat upholstery shop other than BP or Cabelas in Kansas or Missouri? My boat is in need of new carpet and seats for my 1998 Nitro 884 Savage. Any recommendation would be great....
  12. Ugh, I hate all of this flooding!! Sounds like I got lucky with the time of having my boat serviced/repair though. Not having the boat for a week is pure torture!! Hopefully I'll have it back soon...
  13. Also try the Big/Little Niangua arm. After Labor Day weekend that area is very calm as well. You should try Skyline Resort there. They have 1-4 bedroom cabins, and covered dock space. It's in the same cove as our lake house. It's not bad for a place down on the lake. I don't what their prices are like in the off-season, but probably pretty reasonable I bet. I think this is their website www.skylineresortmo.com I have only fished down at LOTO once so far, and it wasn't pretty. But talking to a lot of guys who come in our cover to fish, they said that the Big/Little Niangua does have some decent bass numbers.
