  1. I know Very little about Dirtybird but I can tell you this crappie should be right on the bank right now. and bass will be soon to follow. Really its a bit late in the crappie spawn and there for sure are some bass up doing there thing. grab some 1/8 oz jigs and just walk around the bank jiggin from 5' - 1' you should get some action. Might look at a topo map and find shallow water that is semi close to some deeper water that would be a good place to start. You can also ask the old man you see out there with a basket full of fish for a little advise.
  2. Don't let the negative jerk offs who feel the need to tell you what you cant do discourage you from your goals. Keep an eye out of FB market place or eBay for a fishing tube.. Buy some cheap waders and some fins or paddle pushers ( i prefer paddle pushers myself) and go fishing ! 150 is a tight budget but i see tube for sale on fb for 75-80 bucks all the time offer them 50. The seller will probably have a set of fins or pusher you can grab up for 10-20 more bucks. have fun and enjoy fishing!!
  3. Kinda a loaded question If you ask 10 people you are likely to get ten different answers .. For me I prefer a full round tube with that said i own a pontoon style and full circle and when i tubed almost daily i used both about equal. for comfort they are great like sittin in the lazy boy only on water. Goof points of tube fishing are firstly there are very few places you cant go and fish. Main lake structure on a big lake is a no go for me not because i cant get there but i would rather not be ran over by a half drunk dude in a bass boat going 70 mph . That does not rule out big lakes though. I have made probably 10-12 trip to lake fork with nothing but my tube and about the same since in a boat and by far i did better out of my tube fishing coves like you fish a pond instead of worrying about whats around the next bend thats 3/4 mile away, instead you fish every tree every cut in the bank and even creek channels and drop offs. Mobility.... Well your not gonna get there fast but that slow pace to me makes for better fishing. I way prefer fishmaster style paddles over fins any day and by a long shot fins are faster but you move backward paddle pushers your motion is just like your walking in water. There are limitations mostly being some kind of access to the location or area you want to fish. if there is a road running along the lake that was always enough for me . Any bridge crossing a cove or even main lake is good access .. ok enough of hi jacking ole boys post.. If you want any more info PM me or start a tread about tube fishing . Always willing to BS about it.
  4. East Texas pick your lake there are dozens !! Fork, Sam Rayburn, Toledo Bend, Caddo, Palestine the list is endless. Or just throw a dart at a map of Florida and your good to go ! Just don't bring any yankee politics down south .. If your from up north .. lol
  5. my two favorite lakes are both a good drive Mcgee Creek is 3.5 hours and Fork is around 5 .
  6. 1) fish more often! 2) catch that dang 10 pounder !!! 3) book a trip to Baccarac !!!!! ( really want to do this before I die) 4) Learn to skip better. ( bought a Dobyns spinning rod for this, when I try it with my bait casters I end up ruining 20 bucks worth of line in about 3 minutes !LOL ) 5) get back in my fishing tube. got old and lazy and its a good workout.
  7. Only one PB matters to me and that is breaking the DD mark. lots of time on good water to never get it done. more over 8 than I can remember and 3 over 9 but that dang 10 pound mark. no after all that nope only one PB.
  8. McFarland is a great dude. Very good fisherman and can teach you about anything you don't know and want to learn about .. Lake is big but it isn't really Texass big . 26-27 thousand acres or so. One thing that is going to really help Fork this year and in a few years to come is all the attention OH ivy is getting. That will draw a lot some of the pressure off fork. Good luck and we want to see pics!!!
  9. What Guide are you using?? Myself on a typical year I would rather be there in March . EXPECT it to rain!! Don't worry the fish don't care how wet you are though ! lol Now this year as of today the water is silly cold Texas had an abnormally strong cold spell and pretty much iced Fork over which don't happen often. Stay in the boat lanes when on plane, there are trees all over the place.
  10. We never hear anything about this lake anymore. Has it just died off ? I know Baccarac is the king around here EL Salto is also a fan favorite on other forums.. hear talk of Comendero but every report i see is 4-5 pounder ( who don't like those but you go south of the boarded for that DD or hopes of it.. anyway anyone know why Huites has dropped from the fishing radar???
  11. Personally I like the MLF format better than the fish in the livewell all day long . Anyone whos spent any time at a tourney weight in has seen the fish kill that goes on. Its worse as far as kill goes in the hot weather, but spring your pulling spawning fish off the beds. the MLF format does less damage IMO . Now the every fish counts does bother some but for most anglers we all enjoy catching 30-40 fish in a day.
  12. Chuck Justice is the man 1-580-889-6742 McGee Creek and Sardis
  13. You might want to look at Nitro boats for the dollar they give you maybe the best bang for your buck as far as bass boats. A lot depends on how much you want to spend. Also you said large lakes so remember a 21' boat will handle big water much better than a 18 footer. If i was looking it would be between Nitro, Skeeter, Falcon and Charger. That leaves out some nice boats like Ranger, Basscat and several others but there are things i personally dont like about them .. Just buy nitro Z19 Pro or Z20 Pro and you would be plenty happy though .
  14. im callin that a 4 pounder .. good job !
  15. If your looking for a budget reel look at the H2o express reels academy sales. im a Shimano guy myself but at the urging of my uncle picked one up just to try it. he was right they are a best bang for your buck type reel .. No they are not a chronarch but you can buy 4 + for the the same price ..
