You can also call shimano but I think you'll have to pay shipping I had a similar issue with my citica I. I called shimano and they have pretty good customer service he told me to ship it to him and they would fix any issues I don't even think they were going to charge me however I ended up finding my tw invoice paper and sent it back to tw and they sent me a new one.

i prefer a shimano curado over anything because that's what works for me I have lews, Abu garcias and I want to try a Diawa tatula ct I have reels that I hate and reels that I like, but I prefer the currado.

These are probably the best hooks you can put on a treble bait. Owner stingers . I usually swap my crank baits with gamas however because they available at my tackle shop. I'm not a big fan of rapala I do use some of their baits as staples in my bass arsenal but I'm don't think they use the best components on their baits.

I don't think you made an upgrade by changing your hooks to VMC ? That's more of a down grade.
