  1. Im going to try fooling with the filters this weekend to see if that helps. It does this on both hard & soft bottoms. It's frustrating, b/c as much as I enjoy the user friendly interface & the ability for customization with Humminbird units, I think it's time to try a different brand. Really appreciate the insight & I'm going give it a shot this weekend!
  2. Im in a kayak, but my transducer is mounted to a Scotty transducer arm mount that goes over the side of my kayak. Fully extended, it's probably 1 - 2 inches past the hull. The Humminbird base map & gps have no issues. It's the 2D sonar & DI that have issues in less than 4ft.
  3. If someone does help me out, I can promise you that it won't be anyone from Humminbird support. Their customer service is the worst. They'll test the transducer, nothing will show up & they'll just either send it back or send a new one and I'll keep having the same problems. I've been dealing with this dumpster fire since February. I was going to upgrade to the side imaging model, but I'm worried that I'll keep having the same problems. So that's why I'm thinking about switching to Garmin. Do you have any issues with your Garmin giving false depth readings in shallow water?
  4. For starters, I have a Helix 5 DI GPS G2. My first unit had to be replaced due to the screen freezing & inaccurate depth readings. Now when Im in 4ft or less of water my unit will start reading that Im in anywhere from 17ft to 33ft of water. So I'm wondering if any other Humminbird Helix or Solix owners are experiencing these same issues. 2 different head units, 3 transducers later & Im still having the same problems! Pretty sure I'm done with Humminbird & switching to Garmin.
  5. I fish strictly braid to floro or mono on all my casting reels. I've read that some braid doesn't work well with spinning reels, but clearly PowerPro does. Hopefully the Vicious No-Fade braid will also play nice with spinning gear since thats usually the only braid I use. As far as your 2500 size Daiwa, I'm assuming thats a larger reel, are you able to easily fish all finesse applications?
  6. I'm looking into getting a spinning reel & rod for finesse applications such as wacky rig, neko, ned & ect. I'm clueless when it comes to spinning gear b/c I've always fished baitcasters. What size spinning reel along with what power rod would you all recommend? I've been looking at either the Shimano Sienna or the Catana possibly paired with a 6'9" M Phenix Feather. Side note: instead of spending $250+ on the Shimano Scorpion BFS, it would cost around $100 for a shallowing bfs spool & bearings for my scorpion 70hg. Would that be a viable option as opposed to buying spinning gear? I appreciate any input as to what you guys prefer!
  7. Thank you all for response & input. It does seem that the fish in this lake switched to nocturnal feeding. I’ve read that most bass, once they reach around 7lb’s, start feeding more at night, but never figured an entire lake could flip the switch like this one did. I really do appreciate all of your responses!
  8. Thanks guys! This is why I have become a fan of this forum, the fast response from multiple members!
  9. All of my rods, except for one, have been purchased online at Tackle Warehouse b/c it’s a reputable site that people are familiar with. So I’m looking for a new medium popper rod & came across an 7ft Abu Garcia Villain 2.0 for $114.99 on a website that I’m not familiar with. Now, I know the saying, it’s too go to be true, but I ran the web address through ScamAdvisor & it said it was safe. The name of the site is UniversalMania.com. Has anyone used this site for anything?
  10. Curious if anyone has had this happen to them. There is a private lake that I've been fishing for the past 3 years that has always produced an absurd amount of large bass that has all of a sudden stopped producing bites all together. It's been like this for almost 2 months now. I only fish this lake maybe twice a week & never keep the fish. The water level was up about 2 feet but is now back to its usual 10ft. Here are some details about this lake: it's about 10 acres large, 10ft deep all the way around, 3ft of water visibility, no lily pads or cover, water temp was in the 90's but now in low 80's. I've thrown every bait you can think of & varied my retrieve but still no bites. I know bass can be lethargic & hard to catch during the hot months of summer, but I can't figure this out. This is the first time this has happened at this lake. There is 1 other guy who has permission to fish this lake & he is only after catfish. Does anyone know what could be causing this 2 month drought of bites? I've also included a screen shot below from the map app on my phone to give you a visual of the lake. Thank you all for any insight!
