  1. Doesn't matter what difference you see its what the fish see different that matters. There are definately times when fish prefer a jig over a Texas rigged item, and thats good enough for me to have both in the boat.
  2. Great lure I have one and have done very well with it. As swimbaits go 20.00 is cheap, but this is a very small bait as swimbaits go.
  3. I suggest the Spro Bronzeye frog, if you choose another brand make sure its something with the 4/0 EWG gamakatsu hook.
  4. If the water is muddy I don't think deep is going to be the ticket. IMHO you need to fish something shallow. I would try a single colorado bladed spinnerbait, a baby 1- (mid 1- or the big 1- would be good as well) or other similar crankbait that runs shallow and makes a lot of noise. You can probably catch fish both shallow and deep but in muddy water the active fish are more than likely going to be shallow IMO. Another thing to consider is if its always muddy they might even like a buzzbait or chug bug early and late. Because the lake is small you should be able to fish lots of things and time on the water will help you figure out what actually works there.
  5. Thats not even one of the most expensive ones that company makes, they have some that are much more expensive.
  6. Go to the spro website www.spro.com and look around for the videos of Dean Rojas where he is talking about and showing how he works the frog, also read the articles about it by him that you can find googling the net.
  7. I have one of those frogs, I got it back when they were hard to find. I can't say that I have fished it a whole lot, but I have caught a few fish on it up to about 4 lbs. I do fish frogs a lot, though usually the Spro Bronzeye I see one problem with your setup that will affect any frog. You mentioned that you are using a MH rod, personally that sounds like your biggest weakness in the link. I was using my 7' Heavy flipping stick, but recently stepped up to a Daiwa Tough and Light 7' 4" frog rod. The Daiwa has really helped bring my bite to catch ratio up even higher than it was already. I have noticed that that extra four inches, which doesn't seem like much, really makes a difference in the power of the hookset. I was already doing well with hooksets when I was at the right angle (anywhere from straight in front of me and to the left), but anything on the right of me, setting back towards my left lost a lot of power. The reason I stepped up to the new rod was that I had lost a couple of really big fish (over 6 lbs) on the frog due to not being able to get the hook in them with my 7' heavy. Another thing is the basirisky has a single hook, I haven't had problems with it yet, but i havent fished mine enough to know how bad that single hook is.
  8. Be more specific about frogs, which type the hollow bodied frogs or the soft plastic frogs? I use braid for both of them, but with the soft plastic frogs you can get away with big mono or flouro. With the hollow bodied frogs your bite to catch ratio goes way down with mono or flouro, braid is the only way to go.
  9. I would think that the actual jighead has nothing to do with your problem. I would look at how limber or stiff your rod is, what size line your using and how loose your drag is. Since its just the heavy spot remover that your having problems with my guess would be that somewhere down the line something is not beefy enough to get the larger hook of the magnum into the fish good.
  10. Another thing (may have been mentioned above but I didn't read everyones reply lol) is that the fish only has to have 1 of its offspring live during its entire life to replace it when it does to maintain the number of bass in the lake. A lake will only support a certain number of fish, and bass have 1000's of fry each year, missing one year is only going to hurt if there is something else wrong in the lake. Sometimes due to a drop in water levels you can lose most of the eggs from an entire year, but overall it doesn't hurt the lake like you might think. Releasing the fish was the most important thing, nature will take care of the rest.
  11. The only way Irwin Jacobs will run bass is if he buys it and combines FLW and B.A.S.S. The rumor about BASS being bought by Bass Pro Shops is an old one that started at the classic show 2 years ago, people spreading rumors should at least make up something new for excitements sake.
  12. ;D you're a funny guy
  13. I concur that its a LM bass, and would like to add that spotted bass are not named because of the spots on their bodies.
