  1. I've considered this in the past. I'll look back into it here as I also have kids fishing with me. ? Also thanks for the suggestion of Tackle Underground.
  2. I have tried them. I have found that round ball heads come through rock better. Thanks. I’ve had my eye on the Gamakatsu ones as I am a big fan of their products. How long of a leader line and what # line? I’ve experimented with leaders with decent results, but I have not noticed needing one I guess.
  3. Hey all, I do a lot of river fishing for smallies each season. Early season I stick to a 2.75 paddletail and progress up to a 4" later in the season. For 1/8 to 1/4 oz I've been using the Keitech Super round ball heads and 3/8 the Santone Lures Zaldain lil swimmer. I've had decent luck with each, but feel there has to be better and potentially more affordable for how many can get beat up and lost while river fishing. I'm curious about what people may use for a round ball jig head that may suit my needs. I'm also wondering about line choice for this type of river fishing. I prefer braided line... again though just reaching out to see if I can improve my fishing techniques.
  4. I have had a good amount of success with spinnerbaits and smallmouth. The last two years though an underspin has been so dang effective for me on both the lake and river. Both have their place in my rotation. I have had a good amount of success with spinnerbaits and smallmouth. 5. Extra 10% off Ark products. For a full $100.00 off retail price I pulled the trigger on the Reinforcer 6’10 ml spinning model that the guys at TackleTour have been raving about. fishingonline had reels at 30% off!
  6. Can anyone speak to the legitimacy of fishingonline.com? great deals just dropped there I’m only seeing sales for one brand currently.
  7. Thanks guys. We are lacking on rain right now. Sounds like I’m on the right track currently.
  8. Hey all, made sure to do a google search and search of the forums first before posting and didn’t find what I was looking for. Anyways typically I haven’t fished the river this late into the season, but since some of my fall obligations have changed I will be. I spend quite a bit of time on the river and typically approach the fish with spooks/ploppers, cranks, grubs, paddletails, and of course a tube or jig. I’m wondering what type presentations people like most for fall and any other advice people may have. My plan is to fish aggressive these next two weeks.
  9. Late to the party here, but being from WI as well I thought I'd interject. High waters on the river section I fish led to easy fishing early in the season, find slack water and I could catch 3-6 fish off the same area. Two lures caught my fish here: 1. Whopper Plopper 75 2. Peppers Custom Baits spinner bait in Kitchen Sink color. The rest of the season I caught numbers and big fish on scaling back to a 4 inch Kalin's Grub on a darter head. Summer craw was the color I believe. My lake smallies weren't much different. My biggest smallie came on above mentioned spinnerbait and second biggest game on a Whoppler Plopper 110. Numbers days came on above mentioned grub...
  10. Right. I felt comfortable selling my stuff since I have multiple buddies who put out permanent shacks.. the kids enjoy chasing flags so we've joined them a couple times for some action. Best to encourage the kids to get outside!
  11. 18 minutes for me. Its not my favorite because of giants or anything, a 5 lber is a big fish there, but 3-4s are common. I has a good mixture of everything and holds both largemouth, smallmouth, and pike that reach over 30 inches easy. Docks, pads, grass, gravel points its like a small piece of heaven during the week when I'm typically the only guy there besides a couple old timers crappie fishing. Another 20 minutes to my favorite stretch of river where I prefer to fish though much more time consuming as its about a 6-8 hour float for me.
  12. Living here in Wisconsin I decided to hang up and sell all my ice fishing gear this season and commit to the gym with the family, its been refreshing and at 33 I've managed to get myself feeling great. Ice fishing was never my favorite anyways...
  13. Wisconsin River Smallmouth 21 inches. 5.5 lbs In the kayak world we measure our fish for our online leagues. This was my best ever day on the Wisconsin River May 2019. 92.75 inches 20.25/19/18/17.75 x 2
  14. I have Quantom rod and reel, both are the Vapor series spinning models. 7’2 MH and 2500 reel.. I’ve used both for I believe two seasons now. I think they both fish great, not the most sensitive rod ever, but they have both been very reliable to me.
  15. Thanks Tom. I really want to try and IRod rod, for whatever reason I really value that moderate action over anything with my Shellcracker g2 and slammer which I throw the g2 much much more often. I’m afraid if I steer away from the crank launcher in the IRod series I won’t find the moderate action I’m looking for.
  16. @BoatSquirrel Never bothered to look at any 13 rods... for 80 bucks I might take a try on that Fate Chrome rod, looks more appealing to me. ?
  17. That is one other I had been looking at, I haven’t held any IRods, but I was hoping the launcher might be able to handle lures around that 1.5 mark. Thanks for the input! I’m always a fan of saving money. I might have to look into that Defy rod.
  18. Hey fellas, I’ve been on the search for a rod to throw my ShellCracker, 7” Slammer, and S Wavers on. I’ve enjoyed throwing these in the past on moderate action 7’9 rod rated for up to 2 ounces. This rod fell victim to a break during my recent move. Between the crank launcher and jr swim can anyone provide me some insight?
  19. My man.... he was yanking your chain. The rods are NOT filled with Helium. ?
  20. Love my Helium rods. I’d probably fish all Helium if I could afford to. Currently I have Helium’s and Magnesium’s as well as a couple Daiwa Aird-X rods. They are light and sensitive while still being a workhorse rod for me. I think you should give them a try if you can afford one.
  21. Regal, Legalis, Exceler. All three are priced right by Daiwa, I’ve been happy with all three.
  22. I’m curious if anyone had any personal experience or insight on this rod. I'm interested in using this rod for 3 lures specifically... Shellcracker, BuzzJet, and S Waver. Thanks!
  23. @NorthernBasser Central WI
  24. @NorthernBasser Fellow Wisconsinite. Have you ever used the Pompadour on a river?
