  1. Here's a link for Western PA, Central and Eastern also on this site. www.kayak-anglers.com/chapters/western-pa/schedule/
  2. We really need to fix this @haggard Repeat after me....TLAB! [think like a bass]
  3. I agree 100%. Sold tackle for a lot of years and I'll give the same advice now as I did to my customers back then, use whatever you have confidence in and don't give into the "hype".
  4. Very nice fish young man, very nice indeed! As @A-Jay said, panicking is part of what makes this sport fun! Enjoy the thrill of the unexpected, it keeps things interesting. Bass legend Rick Clunn at age 72 still believes this. When asked when he might give up the sport of bass fishing he said, when he stopped shaking with excitement at catching a big bass! So, keep in mind that even the top pros get flustered a bit by the unexpected, and keeps them coming back for more. Hands shaking, heart thumping...it doesn't get any better than that! Never apologize for doing what you love! Keep practicing, and never give up the dream.
  5. G. I. Jane ? Never Ring Out!
  6. Never happen @haggard but you just keep on dreamin' my friend. I'll win you over to the Dark Side...you watch!
  7. I vote for Daiwa! ? And Coldwater Creek doesn't even have clothes you can wear in the Creek! ?
  8. Rick Clunn is in my humble opinion the consummate master of all things bass. I've followed his career pretty much from the beginning, and if I ever had the pleasure of meeting him I would thank him, not only for everything he's done for our sport, but for the personal lessons he unwittingly imparted to me. At 72 years young he does still make it look easy, and I hope we can still say that 10 years from now. ? Congrats Mr. Clunn! Keep on keepin' on!?????
  9. Are you planning on starting a company?
  10. I found a few links that sell marine EVA foam by the sheet or roll, some offered with the 3M adhesive backing or without. Not sure about pricing but they certainly offer a multitude of colors, textures, and thicknesses. Good luck! Marine deck factory http://www.marinedeckfactory.com North Shore Inc. Hi

    Welcome from North Central Bassachusetts!
  13. Welcome @billmac to BR and welcome back to our wonderful sport! Leave it to the grandkids to get you fired up again! The first time I took my grandson (abt 6 years ago) all I could do was smile at the joy catching a little sunfish brought him. It took me right back to my first fishing adventure with my dad over 50 years ago. I never gave up the sport, and am sometimes too serious about it for my own good, but time with the grandson reminded me of the simple joy of being together and wetting a line just because. ?
  14. I don't usually react to this sort of thing, but I absolutely disagree with your "assessment" of women and the sport of fishing. I've got 50+ years under my belt, sold gear and managed several tackle shops in my day as well. I have recently started tournament fishing. Am I the exception and not the rule, maybe to a degree but all of my female friends fish, all have shared their enjoyment of the sport with their kids and grandkids. And now a few stats from US Fish and wildlife: U.S. Fish and Wildlife data, collected in part by Florida research firm Southwick Associates, shows that in 2001, 26.1 percent of freshwater anglers and 9.2 percent of hunters were female. In 2011, women comprised nearly 27 percent of all inland anglers and 11 percent of hunters. The newest numbers of anglers by gender in 2017: 65.2% male, 34.8% female. 15. My first yak was desert camo. I picked it to be less noticeable, I love the idea of blending in to the scenery... THEN I discovered that I was so well concealed that almost no one could see me, even with the Orange flag and bright yellow blades on my paddle. New yak this year is screaming orange fire camo....safe is better than sorry.
  16. Geez, with all these country songs about gals leaving, and not understanding the fishing thing I'm glad I don't have a wife or girlfriend....but I do have a husband who in the words of Justin Moore...Can't Bait a Hook! On the up side, he also doesn't care how much tackle I buy, and he would never dream of interrupting a perfectly wonderful bass filled dream of any kind.?
  17. I agree whole heartedly, but will up the game by saying, don't forget the grandparents. Most of us have more time, and more patience with the kids. Been taking my grandson since he was 6 and several of his friends (they're all about 12 yrs old now) the past couple years, It was fun fishing with just grandma but it's even more fun with a friend your own age. Now when we go out my grandson shows off a little by "teaching" his buddy. We also have a rule: no phone, no tablet, no device of any kind once the rods come out of the truck.
  18. Sorry to hear that. I don't have a big boat either and was told by Ray Lentine, head of Mass BASS, that this was not an issue and a lot of guys/gals start out with them as co-anglers. Here is Ray's email if you'd like to contact him directly. raylentine@charter.net Mass BASS is also having their annual flea market this month (2/23) in Franklin MA at the Elks Club if you want to reach out in person. Next month is the NE Sportsmen's expo at the Hampshire Dome in Milford, NH (March 8-10) and NH Bass Nation will have a booth there. Maybe you'd have better luck over the border. Crossing my fingers that you find the right fit for you.
  19. Hi guys! A friend of mine sent me this link to a wonderful YT video of LMB feasting on live bait in slow motion ....3 minutes of bass bliss! Does anyone get the idea that these bass are more like pets? Enjoy!!!
  20. Hey Dave, Have you considered joining Mass Bass Nation? Or NEBassin? Mass Bass Clubs: http://www.massbassnation.org/mass-b-a-s-s-nation-tournaments/mass-b-a-s-s-nation-state-team/9-content/123-mass-b-a-s-s-nation-club-info.html New England Bassin http://www.nebassin.com I'm a kayak angler and am joining NEBassin Central Mass kayak trail this year, but they do have other categories; small boat, big boat, team tourneys etc. a little of everything. Hope you get connected and have a great season . LM
  21. Here's a link on the biology of Northern Crayfish. http://naturenorth.com/fall/crayfish/Fcray2.html And this is a small article on crayfish colors in lure making. https://makewoodenlures.com/crawfish-colors/ Hope it helps. LM
  22. Hey Jared! I'm up here in Massachusetts, but if I were closer it would be an honor to help you. I have a grandson who is just starting to get into bass fishing, and it's my hope that he thinks about joining a team in a couple years when he starts high school. I couldn't help noticing the name of your school, are you a member of the Ramapo Nation? Sorry I can't be more than moral support for you, but I'm a firm believer that if you want something bad enough you'll find a way to succeed. Maybe you could post a request in the Tournament thread and get a few more folks looking at your request. Best of luck Jared...I'll be crossing my fingers you get a boat/Captain. LM
  23. Thanks for the congrats, and I'm sorry we didn't manage to connect...the place really was packed. I'm 95% sure it was you I saw whizzing by (abt 20 minutes after the doors opened) but I was being wooed by NEBassin into finally joining the Central MA kayak tourney trail. I'm just jealous now...?
  24. I envy you the ability to still turn your own wrenches....and maybe this is TMI or just plain nuts but I stand as close to the shop floor as I can get away with, just so I can smell the oil, rubber and tranny fluid smell. If someone created a Ode de Mopar Garage scent in a bottle I'd buy stock in it. ? And that fancy warranty I have...means I pay for nothing but expendables. Oil, brakes etc. They even cover the rental or towing if I were ever to need it. I also do quite a bit of cross country driving by myself, soooo if I get stuck in South Dakota I have no worries.
  25. Can you pop a wheelie with that rig? 55lbs of thrust seems like a lot of juice for a yak. ?
