  1. Greetings and welcome from just south of the border here in Massachusetts. I love the Kittery area, especially the Trading Post. ? ? Wishing you great success the rest of the season...hit it hard and often because you know what's coming soon...❄❄❄❄? LM
  2. The company is Deeper Sonar and it's an "all in one" sort of thing that you either tie to your line and cast, or use a flex arm mount. All the info transmits to a smart phone or tablet via Bluetooth.
  3. Hey Whiskeypete! I'm using a deeper sonar on my yak with the arm. I love them both. I have a Feelfree Lure 10 kayak with solid molded handles which I figured would work out well for clamping the flex arm onto but the handles are just a little too wide for a secure fit, so I clamp mine to the steel tubing of my seat. I haven't had to adjust the clamp all season, even after paddling through thick pad fields. The flex arm and sonar shed most of that vegetation off pretty well too. Very rarely have i had to untangle anything from the sonar, and it doesn't interfere with transmission of info. I'm strictly a fresh water gal, so can't help you with salt water applications but if there is anything more specific you want to know just ask, I'll do my best to answer. One note of interest, if you do decide to go with the flex arm (and I would simply for fear of the line breaking in a rod application) I bought mine through Amazon for half the price of Cabelas or other vendors. $59 bucks is way better than $100+
  4. Funny, these are the same things my Husband says! Go figure?! Thankfully I can leave him on the shore while I paddle my yak away....far, far, away!
  5. Thanks 3crows, I've been stashing the yak outside since I got it in April. Set up on 3 saw horses (no noodles, except for transport on the truck tailgate) in a shady spot. I have some physical limitations so being up off the ground is critical to getting it in the truck, with help from hubby. Curious to know how heavy your wall mounted yaks are? Pic of my Lure 10 from Feelfree website.
  6. Thanks Darren! I have a dear friend who lives in your fair state, she left Mass to get away from the snow two years ago, and as luck would have it, you had more snow there than we did! As for the yak, have you had any other issues from cold weather? Bending, cracking, splitting, gasket failure? Attempting to think about all the possible variables that could be encountered.
  7. Hey everybody! I've got a Feelfree Lure 10 kayak, which I love, but am curious about winter storage. This is my first year with any kayak so I'm really looking for good advice to get the yak through a winter season in New England. I have a well made shed at my house where the yak will live, but the real issue I have is store the yak on the floor or get a hoist system? I don't usually have too many issues with pesky mice , but because the seat is very well padded i envision little mouse nests made from the seat. Any advice would be appreciated. Dimensions: 10 feet long, 36 inches wide and weighs in at 70 pounds. http://feelfreeus.com/kayaks/fishing-kayaks/lure-10/ Thanks in advance! Ladi Mopar
  8. I have Feel free Lure 10 kayak that is also 36 wide, with the gravity seat which I leave at about the 8 inch position. I started with a basic BB ( bending branches 220) but it was too heavy and too short. Always whacking the side of the hull. ? So I have gone to a Caviness Cavpro carbon paddle at 240 cm, from Cabelas. Usually $129 bucks but they have great sales, got mine for about $80. I love the power i get from this paddle but really love how light weight it is. http://www.cabelas.com/product/boating/canoes-kayaks-small-boats/paddles-oars-accessories/pc/104794380/c/104710680/sc/104483880/caviness-cavpro-carbon-kayak-paddle/1745044.uts?slotId=11
  9. Thanks for the warm welcome everybody. Hope to see some of you from my neck of the New England woods on the water one day soon. Although NHBull I'll probably have to win the lottery to come over the border to fish in your waters.... GrumpyOl don't feel bad about your season; mine started out strong and I think all the bass have migrated too the last month. Maybe they heard about the big merger between Bass pro and Cabelas and swam east! ?
  10. Me and my yak are floating in North Central Mass waters!

  12. Hey bassingirl, welcome to the fabulous sport of bass fishing! I'm new to the forum too, but not to fishing....if I can be of help just sing out! ????? Ladimopar
  13. Hi everyone! I've been a fan of bassresource for quite some time and finally decided to stop lurking in the Lilly pads and join in the conversation here. I've been fishing for the better part of fifty years now thanks to a dad who didn't believe "girls shouldn't do that". For many of those years I was happy to fish most any species, but when I caught a three pounder on ultra light tackle some thirty years ago the pursuit of the magical green fish became my obsession. An obsession I continue to share with my daughter (who caught her first lunker over 25 years ago at age 10) and grandsons. I spent a great deal of time bank fishing after the loss of my pickup truck, an issue that has since been resolved, and have traded the little flat bottom boat for a fishing kayak which has been a great adventure. It's been really wonderful to get to those little, quiet low pressured areas that bigger boats or anglers on land can't reach. Not just for the bass but for the connection with the water and surrounding flora and fauna. With my first season in the kayak under my belt I'm looking towards doing some tournaments next year, so if any of you have advice for this kayak fishing newbie I'd be grateful for any pearls of wisdom you'd like to share. Looking forward to getting to know folks here, and to offer whatever help and support I can to those generations coming along behind us so our sport continues to grow into the future. Tight lines! LM
