  1. I'm in east central Indiana, I work the bottom but many big ones have come on the initial fall. This year I've been using mostly bitsy bug jigs with a craw trailer or a bullet weight texas rig. Sometimes I drag or reel slow across bottom or I'll lift it and drop on semi slack as the current takes it down stream. I'll catch them bank or mid-stream this way. I don't think it matters top or bottom as long as you can get your preferred bait in their face. I like jigs and t rigs because I can get down in the laydowns when they're holding tight and draw them out.
  2. I got the bluegill pattern crank on a good deal and threw it in a variety of conditions all last year. Looks great going through the water. Exaggerated hunting action, working it fast it makes it roll and skip up in a way I thought looked somewhat like a fleeing baitfish. I've caught a total of one fish on it. ?
  3. Yea my eye was on them as I use a similar trailer often. The zman grubs, yama craws, hulas and dbl tails were only .99-1.19 a pack when I last ordered from them, so the only decision was how many, Ha!
  4. I think it's the move to thier own branded stuff but I'm fine with it helps keep that ol ? at bay. Might try thier brand of plastics if I burn through my stock. Without sites like them I'd definitely not have a nice supply of zman/yamamoto baits.
  5. I fish some of my old finds. Found a half card of doll flys and full card of sassy shad and old beetle jig spins and was throwin em the next day. Black broke back jitterbug went straight in rotation. I'm convinced quite a few boxes I find got retired due to pork spills.
  6. I still deal with rust even using zerust boxes and fanactly drying my gear it's enough to drive ya mad I tell ya! I dip a qtip in rem-oil or line lure conditioner and coat split rings, swivels and trebles. Traveling I carry a regular backpack with plano/flamb boxes. I got a soft plastic binder and put the original packs inside for additional sealing. I use a 'tote-um-pole' to carry rods. Along with a small cooler and I have everything I need still have a free hand. I also get the little ziplocks you can find in the craft section and put pre-rigged plastics and spinners in them to keep in-use stuff isolated inside my plano boxes. Smaller jigs I use the little pill pouch ziplocks you can find in the pharmacy, they are much more durable and thicker. My main storage is identical to scarborough817 and I'm happy with this method. Im working on building a metal shelf with rod holders on the sides because I don't wanna spend the loot on a prebuilt one.
  7. This year I started doing more flipping in the buy/sell sense of the term and have bought some 'new old stock' and used tackle so I actually get to try some of the classics I missed out on although what I noticed was many are still being made in some aspect or that most 'new' lures are copies of previous designs. I started in the 90's so classic for me is stuff I still throw, beetle spin, rooster tail, shad rap/floating minnow and a model A crank. I'm still sorting and restoring, but I'll have a little umco box of classics to throw on a mitchell/garcia combo this spring/summer I'm excited about.
  8. I wear cheap water shoes the kind that have tennis shoe style construction with drain holes through the sole and upper. I also wear slip on 'camp moc' new balance that have aggressive tread and a slight negative heel helps on the banks. I have to check the model #s but they were all under 30$. I had some of the canvas light crocs which are the only crocs worth owning but I was looking like Bill Dance out there slipping on banana peels.
  9. It depends who it is. Unfortunately my local pond has drivable shore line so I get people driving thier freaking car right up 6 ft. away from me and choke out a 'bitin?'. This can happen up to 6 times an hour and gets real aggrivating when it's obvious they aren't even fishing just looking for people to talk to. Im more than friendly to other c+r bassers or kids especially. I'll save bobbers and lures I find and give it to a kid in a minute. I don't mind sharing what's working to like-minded folks.
  10. I buy my live bait and some things at the local tackle but I scrounge deals no matter what or where. Flea markets Ive seen many cabelas, gander mtn, and wally clearance resellers. This year I got braid for 5 flouro for 3 and hank p spin combos for 10 just yesterday.
