  1. I fish from a kayak and wear mine 100% of the time every time. It’s a NRS Chinook and I don’t really even think about having it on and would feel lost without it. I keep my keys, wallet, whistle, stats, phone, divers knife and line cutters neatly tethered or tucked away.
  2. I just picked up a few different colors of Yum to try out this year.
  3. I was very close to my grandpa, he was the one who took me fishing and after he passed I stopped fishing for around 12 years. The wife and I went a couple times after we met then I stopped again for around 10 years. Around 7 years ago I bought my first kayak and fell in love with kayak fishing and really started to learn and grow as a fisherman. Three years ago in May I was almost killed by a co-worker which caused a stroke and left me with a partially disabled left hand. I was just diagnosed with carpal tunnel in my right hand. I’m now 47 and not sure how much longer I can kayak fish or even fish so I plan on going as much as I can. For me kayak fishing and even being on my kayak has been therapeutic in my recovery. I wrote all of that to say that life is super short and can change in an instant. If you like fishing go when you can and don’t stress over it, heck keep a travel setup with you and stop at water while passing and toss around a lure a time or two! Tight Lines!

  5. @Munkin Yes Sir, heck of a deal for me as I was paying around $8 for 25.
  6. I won an auction for a box of 1000 Gamakatsu 1/0 EWG for $47 to the house. They should last me for a minute.
  7. I have a 2006 F150 and I leave the tailgate down. The bed has built in anchors on the bottom that I run a YakAttack cam strap through. It really is toss and go. Glad I could help!
  8. While I don’t have an Old Town I do have a 10’ Native Slayer with the pedal drive. I think it’s a little over 100 lbs as it’s rigged, I leave everything on it except my Blackpak. I have a trailer but I don’t use it. I also have the landing gear wheels. I simply roll it to the truck pull it into the bed and strap it down, easy breezy. I’ve also had a stroke that gave me a partially disabled left hand, I still manage it. I think my drive needs around 18” of water without hitting, I would think the Old Town is somewhat similar. Having a pedal driven kayak has been a game changer for me and fishing especially after my accident and stroke. I’m thinking of taking the next step and getting a Nucanoe with a trolling motor. I think the top 3 brands of pedal driven kayaks are Hobie, Old Town and Natives Propel drive. I don’t think you could go wrong with any of them. Tight Lines!
  9. Talk about right place right time! Kudos to you Sir!
  10. My first fish in 2024. I haven’t been on the site in a while, 2023 wasn’t too good for me health wise . I just found out I got carpal tunnel in my right hand to go along with my partially disabled left. I’m trying to kayak fish as much as I can while I still can. Managed three around the same size pictured.
  11. Are they worth anything? They were brownish yellow color and maybe already has chrome looking reel seats. The guy was also into fly fishing. The sale is only 15 minutes from my house and is going the next 3 days.
  12. Picked up this very lightly used Falcon ultra-light 5’6” rod and an Abu Cardinal reel for $10 at an estate sale. They also had several new Lamiglas blanks but I don’t know enough about them to pull the trigger.
  13. My wife decided last week that she would like to do some fishing after a 4 year hiatus. I happily paid for her license and away we went. After going 3 days to close to 10 spots over the past week neither of us caught anything. That changed today when I finally caught one, was still upset that she hasn’t got one though. The weather in TN has been close to perfect the past few weeks so it’s always nice to be outdoors and especially scoping out new spots to drop in my kayak.
  14. My first find of the year, will definitely be putting this one to use.
  15. Took the kayak out for a for a few hours this morning and managed two on a wacky rigged Yum Dinger.

  18. To make it easier to raise the lid while turned around on the yak, my left hand partially works due to a stroke. It’s also the reason for 8 rod holders, it sometimes takes me up to 20 minutes to tie on a lure. I try not to re-tie while on the water.

  21. Not exactly a tackle purchase rather a tackle holder. I added the extra rod holders to be able to take several combos rigged and ready to go.
  22. I use the Ketch Karbonate mounted on a Snipe Air Industries mount.
  23. For the big game I smoked some cream cheese with a cinnamon sugar rub and topped it with some homemade strawberry jam and fresh cut strawberries. This was delicious spread on a graham cracker with a drizzle of caramel syrup. It was my first time trying it but definitely wont be the last. I also did a Boston butt for 12 hrs and forgot to take pics before I pulled it.
