  1. @Crow Horse Yes Sir, I always tell my wife exactly where I’m going and a rough estimate on what time I’ll be back.
  2. I just picked up three Shimano Curado CU-200b to try out. I couldn’t have afforded them back in the 90s but these were cheap enough so see what I missed out on.
  3. My kayak is a Native Slayer Propel 10. It’s pedal driven with a lot of aftermarket goodies and a Humminbird Helix 5. Weighs well over 100 lbs rigged. Pluses: 1-Easily loaded/unloaded from a truck bed 2-Being only 10’ it’s easily maneuvered 3-Retails for $2300, got it brand new for $1000 Minuses 1-Not easily able to add an electric trolling motor like most fishing kayaks these days. 2-Being only 10’ the wind easily pushes you around 3-Rudder is on the bottom and makes it difficult to load/unload
  4. I’d suggest taking it out with the bare minimum before trying to rig it all out, especially anything that requires drilling into your kayak. What you think will work ok for you may change after you get on the water. Watch as many different kayak fishing videos on YouTube to see how other kayaks are rigged out and being used for ideas. Everyone is different and what I like and what’s for me may or may not work for anyone else. It’s taken me close to 5 yrs to get my kayak dialed-in the way I like it. The most important thing above all is to wear a life jacket every time you are on the water. A close second is to make sure you take a paddle with you every time.

  7. I have always casted with my right and swapped to my left to reel with my right. Now with my left hand partially disabled I couldn’t reel with my left if I had to.
  8. Its a really nice bass regardless of size, congrats and welcome to Bass Resource!
  9. After watching the YouTube channel Adventures with Purpose it’s crazy the amount of cars and ,unfortunately ,bodies are in the water.
  10. @Ski seems terrible and will have me looking into vaccines for it. Hope you have a full and speedy recovery!

    Intro

    Welcome to Bass Resource!
  12. @ol'crickety it really is a pretty area that’s right outside a state park. At the very top and a little to the left in the pic is an historical house that was built in 1802. I enjoy the area anytime I can get my kayak on the water. @TnRiver46 I try to keep an eye out but I’m usually zoned out with fishing and controlling my kayak. I just happen to look up and see him, stopped fishing for a good 10 minutes to watch him.
  13. I left out early this morning with the temperature below freezing to fish a place I haven’t been to in a good while. Im thinking of entering a kayak tournament in a few weeks and wanted to see if I could catch any in this area. I ended up having an amazing day on my kayak. I ended up catching two small ones like pictured and the 16” pictured which is much better than last weeks 13”. I saw a beautiful bald eagle that kept flying away down the creek so I saw him several times. I wish I could have gotten a little closer for some better pics. My favorite section of the creek is also pictured even though pictures can’t do it justice.
  14. @Smirak Here’s what happened to my Nocqua, was never near water, always in the fabric bag, and kept in a Yakattack cell block that’s mounted inside my kayak. It also still had the rubber cover on it. It wasn’t charging or putting out any voltage and I was curious why, cut off the rubber cover to find a strap rusted and broken into. It was a great little battery pack that lasted around 5 yrs so I definitely got my monies worth out of it.
  15. My 5 yr old Nocqua 4.4ah just bit the dust so I picked up a 10aH directly from Dakota Lithium for 62 to the house. I use a basic charger from Amped Outdoors. I have a Humminbird Helix 5 on my kayak.
  16. @JayMac89 whatever cart or wheels you decide on don’t use any that go into the scuppers. I have the Native landing gear on mine but I honestly only use them to get the kayak off the trailer in the garage and to the back of my truck. It works well but is very hard for me to remove and reinstall the wheels. I have a disabled left hand which would make it impossible while floating. On land it’s hard trying to hold up one side at a time to get them in and out. I have seen them reports and pictures of them ripping out of loaded kayak and cracking several, after all it is plastic.
  17. @Kreagerc not gonna laugh as my wife is probably mad at me for something I’m not even aware of yet.😃
  18. Interesting, I had never heard of them until I accidentally caught one bank fishing with my wife last year. It tore my right arm up pretty good while my wife was getting it unhooked. After we got home I started looking up birds and found their name.
  19. I dont have a motor but seriously thinking of upgrading my kayak and including one. Out of the two I would go with the Xi3 just for the spot-lock. I don’t like how the Torqueedo batteries are proprietary and would go with a Newport Nk180 or Nk300 over it but you would need 24v or 36v batteries for those.
  20. Growing up we used night crawlers or chicken livers for catfish. I can’t remember ever having any artificial lures other than a couple Rooster-tails. My grandpa only fished or hunt to eat. These days I’m 100% artificial and can’t remember when I used anything that wasn’t.
  21. @JayMac89 Congrats with your choice. If you haven’t already, check out Navarre kayak fishing and yak hobby for some Old Town specific upgrades.
  22. @Functional My dot pictured is green but I also can see red better.
  23. @Tennessee Boy should have let whoever was in Milam keep paying for the registration. 😃
  24. I picked up a 43x for my newest EDC. I’ll probably revert back to my G43 to EDC during the summer months.
  25. @TnRiver46 I agree they bombard you with the extras. I wish TN would do like KY and offer a fishing only license,I don’t hunt, as well as the three year option. I sent TWRA an email about it a few years back but never got a response. At least they did change it to expire exactly a year after you buy it.
