  1. Thanks guys, not being able to punch isn't a biggie to me. Anyone got any answers for my reel questions?
  2. Anyone else have the silver max? This is my first baitcaster. I was wondering for those that have it.while turning the tension knob out will it stop at some point or does that thing come right off.seems like it should have a point at which it stops you from unscrewing it.so it doesn't fall off. Seems like that would lessen the amount of tension that you can take away from the reel.alao the way the drag works is weird.i heard to set it where the line wasn't digging into itself, that's kind of hard on a baitcaster with braided line.how and where should my drag be set to. Give a baitcaster rookie some advice.please if you have a silver max answer that first question.
  3. Why not punching? Just wondering why it wouldn't be good for that.is it the lure weight or the fact that when you punch your going through heavy grass mats. The 6'6 is my bigger rod. I have another light rod that I like using night crawlers on. My 6'6 I'd like to use for jigging, poppers, soft plastics t rigging, drop shotting, spinners, some frogs.and other things hopefully.any advice are certain types of fishing going to call for smaller version of tackle like a smaller frog for frogging? Or smaller crankbaits
  4. Thanks for reply,I didn't think this posted so I reposted.mod please delete this. And please reply to my other thread titled my setup.all who care to give advice.thank you
  5. So what kind of bass fishing/lures would you use on a 6ft 6 medium fast rod. I wanted a 7ft medium heavy fast action for top water.abu didn't sell there silver max with a left handed option for that setup.so I went with a 6ft 6 medium fast action. Honestly I mostly use Texas right soft plastics, but I wanted to be able to do some jigging, punch rigging, and top water.will I be able to do some of those things with this setup? What would you use a 6ft 6 medium fast for?

  7. hey guys so im currently looking for a good mono line, i tried firline on my reel i dont like the feel of it. it feels choppy its so thin often when i set drag higher or pull line out it digs into itself and causing problems. so i want a mono line that has some of the characteristics of a braided line, such as: a good diameter/strength ratio, very low memory,i want a line that is not very visible, and spools and ties easy. as far as monos what is the best of the best for that. i know people might say different ones so i will take what you guys say and do some searching on them. let me know please.
  8. hey whats up guys, so i been fishing since i was a kid. my dad got me into when i was young and after my parents divorced and i didnt see him much, i was still into it. i remember living in a apartment second floor and practicing casting off the balcony. anyway i couldnt fish much as a kid in texas but when i moved to washington state i was still into. when i was bout 14 i moved to black diamond washington met a good friend and lived about a 10 minute walk from sawer lake which is a big lake. i got back into it heavy. me and my friend steven would hang out at a rv resort watching the fishing chanel on there little tv in the game room. i fished alot but mostly only used spinners and worms i still caught good though. then in my teens i started getting in trouble. i got out of fishing for a long time, had a kid when i was 18. and as years went on only went now a then over years. now that i am 26 this year i got hooked again. i relized back then i really like fishing but didnt know much. i have alot to learn and love to learn. i want to know about how things work and why. what bait/tackle works and why, where fish hang out and when there in certain areas. like i said i been into fishing for a long time and i knew what i knew and still caught but i was mostly a worm jigger and really in touch with lake sawer. i made this intro to give yall a idea of who i am as a fisherman and my skill level, also to let you know i am new here and will be asking alot of questions so i hope yall dont mind. first thing for now, how does drag work on a reel. and how should i have it set. i have a med action rod,and 8lb line reel i was using. but i bought a light action rod/reel for fun, so as far as now im using a light action weith a reel thats using 6lb line. reel goes up to 6.5 lbs. so back in the day id just randomly adjust the drag. as far as now i will adjust it to be not to tight but not to loose, also how does drag affect the line.
