  1. No. I was just referring to this area where they like to stay. Where I am from we call spawning beds, spawning beds. And In certain areas where big fish are usually found, we call this there bed. I guess it's just slang i never really thought to consider what that might mean to everyone else.
  2. Yeah no. I take extra care of my fishery. My question was simple. Can bass find there way back to a certain part of the lake if taken somewhere else. They definitely didn't die. They didn't even lose strength, due to the boat ride being a few minutes. It seems like common sense to me, that it was understood the fish were taken away. I was hoping for a more scientific approach to the question. Thanks for trying any way! ? Thank you. This was my question. Can they find there way back? And if so how long does it take. Also for anyone saying never put a fish on a stringer unless you intended to eat it, I usually do not do this. But also, they isn't right. I take very good care of my fishery and if you take care of the fish and proceed with caution, then transporting the fish with out a dry well can be perfectly fine. I kept one fish on the stringer. Once I had the scale and went back to the area I didn't need to string the second fish. Yeah it would seem pointless if that's what I was doing. I am new to this forum but is it usual for people to comment things when they do nothing to help the thread? I'm glad you shared your thoughts but I was just curious. Thanks for clearing this up. Being newer to this forum some things might seem confusing but I thought it was kind of obvious what I meant. I see now you need to break it down in great detail. And I've also seen spawn beds as late as mid august. Thanks for helping the thread!
  3. I catch two big 2-4lb bass out of a cove & didn't have my scale. I put them on the stringer, took them to my boat dsock, got a scale and weighed them. After I eased them back into the water and they swam off. My question is every time I go back now, I only catch Baby bass if Get any bites. So.... did I mess up that spot by taking them away from that cove? Can the smaller fish survive? Can the big fish find there way back to there bed? Probably a silly question but I wanted to know none the less.
  4. It was alright. The wind died down a bit, but I found a cove in a stump field and the tree line negated the wind conditions a lot. All I have in a drop anchor so I got spun around a lot but other than that it was bad. I went with a spinner bait and also a Texas rigged senko. I caught a few dinks but nothing worth weighing. No one really relied before I went out on the water so I just stuck with what I had.
  5. Today is a windy day. This morning was calm and in the low 80's. I caught a nice 2lb bass on a Texas rigged worm. Tonight when I go out on the lake, I was wondering if anyone had any favorite baits to rig up during really windy conditions. I have a spinner bait on my spin reel but I was just curious if anyone has something different they like to fish! Thanks in advance!
  6. I am fishing in dark green water. I'm not sure how you define it but it could be considered stained? Maybe a little less than a foot of visibility from what I can tell (more or less). 90 degrees plus in the south, fishing in MS. I read somewhere that jigs were primarily clear water lures... WHAT?! Please tell me that black and blue jigs are still widely known as the best bass bait for darker water? Also, are they a "year-around" bait or are they seasonal? I would be great if someone just broke down the basics of jig fishing (where, when, how, color). It would be so greatly appreciated.
  7. The pond I can reach goes from bank out to about 4-5ft deep. I'm measuring with my line a few feet from shore. I know by fall rate it gets deeper. How deep I can't tell for sure but it's at least 5ft or deeper. The pond is decent size. (About 10 swimming pools for reference). I saw one blow up in the middle and I spooked a nice bass walking up as I got there for the first time a week ago. I ran a popper frog near the bank because there isn't any vegetation in the water. There are a few trees hanging over I also fished. There are some points that stick out and some shade but again, I can't get there due to so much thorns, weeds, and high grass (on land). The only other place I can get too is a big concrete structure and that's also where I saw fish. I feel like the fish are in the spots I am fishing and they are seeing me cast out to the middle or something lol which is spooking them. I spooked big fish at each spot. I'm glad you posted this because I've been dying to find this out.. how do you like the ibobber? Is it worth the money?? I want to get one really bad if it works good. Also guys, should I trim my jig skirts?
  8. No forage. I don't have access to anything other than two spots on the pond due to heavy vegetation. I fan casted from the point of the shore I can reach. Maybe the lake needs to be fished in a different spot and I just can't get there.
  9. I caught my biggest bass casting along the shore down a rock bed. I agree. But I've tried (at least I think) everything. This one single little pond out in the middle of no where is full of fish. I've seen TOADS with my own eyes. But I cannot get a single bite ever since I caught the first bass out of there. It's very confusing. Lol
  10. Depending on the water, my colors will vary but anytime the bite is tough with bass fishing, I go with rigging up a soft plastic. My personal favorite is a Carolina rig with either a black/blue spec or watermelon with so much red speckles it's basically red. Texas rigged worms are so close to being my favorite I just say they are both equally awesome and reliable. I like the finesse of it.
  11. My stepdad uses monofilament. I use braid. He misses the hook set so much more than me as we fish out of the same boat. I usually don't. Just my opinion. Braid has less stretch and that could be your problem. Also I've noticed that when I miss a hook set the fish are very small and do not bite deep enough on the bait too get hooked. I believe you said a 3" worm and that's a small length. Smaller fish will bite at that a whole lot.
  12. I have been going to a pond near my house after work around 6:30pm (sunset is at 8:07pm). I live in Olive branch Mississippi. The temperature is in the high 80s to mid 90s. The water is a stained green with maybe a foot of transparency (Maybe less) but it doesn't seem muddy. I do not have a boat so I am forced to bank fish. I measured as far out as I could and the water seemed to be about 3 1/2 feet deep. I'm almost positive it gets a lot deeper in the middle. I've caught one fish (maybe a 1lb pound bass) on a Texas rigged senko worm (Black and blue specs). That never worked again. Since, I've tried jigs (Black and blue, dark green/junebug/watermelon mix), chatterbait, rage blades (neon chartreuse) - all rigged with either craw or chunk trailers, crank baits, lipless crank baits, and swim baits (bright chartreuse). I'm new to the forum and I'm not sure what I am doing wrong. I figure the fish are out in the middle in the deepest water but I've also seen huge fish near the bank with my own eyes. Also every time I see a fish in the middle, it's a blow up in the middle. So if they are supposed to be deep during the heat, why are they striking at the top? I'm sure someone can clear this up. It's a loaded question and if it's not how you are supposed to do it, forgive me. Thank you for you help in advance.
