  1. I deal with this in Southern California. Most of our lakes are crystal clear. I stick with natural color baits, and if I’m throwing swimbaits, I prefer glides for a reaction bite. Plus, if I see a fish, chances are it has seen me as well. I’ll usually back the boat away, and blind cast where I think the fish is at.
  2. Back in the day, I used to slay some of my local lakes here in San Diego Using Don Lovino reapers. Mainly Carolina rigged. However, I stopped using them due to Heavy grass in the summer time. Could you possibly drop shot reapers and have good results?
  3. @OnthePotomac Yes sir! The trout they stock the lakes here are relatively big 2-4 pound range so I try to match the hatch as best as I can with good success. Thanks for the info!
  4. I bought a new swimbait rod yesterday. It’s line rating is 20-40lb. I’m out of 20 right now, so I went ahead and spooled pline Cxx 15lb test. Is that a bad idea? Will it cause the line to stretch more, or will it damage it?
  5. Hey guys! I'm a bit on the curious side, but I have a friend who's not the best of fisherman suddenly break down how bad the bass fishing in California is compared to other states. I'm certain he's only fished in this state, and just overnight he became this "Pro" bass fisherman watching youtube videos, and just pulling stats from out of nowhere, It's unbearable. Thoughts? Facts? Opinions? Analogies?
  6. Thank you for the review Grumpyphartte. @fishballer06 your absolutely right, and thanks! @Chance_Taker4 The bass are very large here in Southern California. Lakes are stocked with rainbow trout here in the winter times, and that's what the bass eat in the winter months. Look up Mike Long fishing, and working class zero fishing to see the fish out here. I've been averaging bass 5-6 pound range and have lost bigger ones at the boat.
  7. Was looking into a new swimbait rod, won't get to deep into details, but I'm throwing 2-10oz baits when I do throw SBs. Particular Rod has caught my attention and it's the Okuma SBX. But there's not many reviews on it. Has anyone used this rod that's willing to share feedback? By the way I'm new to the site, and greetings from San Diego!
