  1. What makes a Shad Rap so appealing to bass in early spring? Is it the lack of large rattle and a large wide profile?
  2. Is it worth my 80 bucks? Or should i look at something else in this price range?
  3. yeah i live about ten mins. from the new leeds bass pro and have an academy and dicks within a mile of my house so its pretty nice.
  4. Yeah the midsized square billed crankbaits are amazing. These lures also have some great colors although not that great of a selection. They did come out with some new baits for '09 though. A popper, lipless bait and a several new crankbaits.
  5. What is the story behind these? I have heard they are lucky craft designed, actual lucky crafts but under a different brand name, and much more. Anyone know the real story behind theses lures? I love them.
  6. yeah it pays 25k to the winner i think and pays the top 60 spots, 60th getting their 125.00 entry fee back. the least you get back is a bag filled with lures from all of the sponsors even if you come back with a zero. And yes after the weigh in they throw out 85,00 worth of lures, rods, reel, plastics, and other stuff. last year i got t shirts and lots of tackle. anyone in alabama needs to drive down for this event. its may 2nd at paradise point marina. we are signed up for this event. it should be an interesting day.
  7. I wouldnt get one of these if i were you. Its like fishing with a broom stick.
  8. Is anyone else fishing in this? Its a 500 boat tournament but well organized. Cannot decide if i want to fish or not, 500 boats is a ton of boats.
  9. Sorry about that. Should have re-read before I jumped on you like that. How much would that reel cost shipped to Birmingham,AL?
  10. Ive heard that the Mg's handle braid really well and are good for flipping. is this true?
  11. wait is this the same reel your trying to sell in the flea market? you claim you have only used it twice?
  12. What size hooks do you rig a baby paca craw on? im planning on flipping these in early spring in the grass w/ a pegged 3/8 tungsten weight.
  13. Coosa and Alabama Rivers hold some nice spots and you can catch them year-round. Best fish that you could ever fish for! beats the heck out of largemouth.
  14. Want a line that is sensitive almost like fluorocarbon but i also want to be able to fish big topwater on the same rod. So pretty much most sensitive floating line that you can buy. What line would you spool up with?
  15. just buy H20 lures and you wont have that problem!
  16. Definantly Pfluegar, look at the new Pfluegar and the new Johnny Morris. They are almost identical.
  17. http://www.***.com/descpage.html?PCODE=DCCR better or worse than a powell?
  18. I was thining either 6'8 heavy or medium heavy. I like the idea of a little bit shorter butt section. I fish of the Coosa River in Alabama so lots of grass and moss fishing. Only reason i would consider a heavy is football jig fishing but i would also like to throw so big crankbaits and weightless worms on this rod and i think a heavy action would limit that.
  19. I got some left over money from Christmas and would like the buy the lightest and most sensitive rod for the money. It has to be 7' or less and would like slit grip but you could convince me otherwise. Looking at powells?
  20. spots give them the fight...not the smallmouth
  21. That rod you suggested is a waste of money. I go out with a striper guide to catch some huge stripers on lake martin and smith lake. the first time i went out with him he grabbed a cheap ugly stick and said this is what happens when you catch a 45lb striper with this rod and he broke it in half over the rail of his boat. Then he grabbed a more expensive rod that you could not compare to an ugly stick and did the same thing and he couldnt break it. That bait you make cant be THAT big and the fish you are catching cant be THAT big. That rod wouldnt stand a chance around some really big fish.
  22. There are many different possibilities for moving near lakes in alabama. Guntersville is one. The coosa chain is great. (where i live) Eufaula is another. And the Tennessee river has some great fishing for both largemouth and smallmouth. Coosa River is great because you can run so many different patterns on the lakes, from skipping jigs under docks at Logan Martin for HUGE spots to swimmin jigs through grass at jordan.
  23. Does anyone know what the stripers are doing on lake martin? im going to be going down there next week and going to mix up between bass fishing and trying to catch some big stripers.
  24. I caught one of these this weekend on a finesse jig and i swore i had a LM and bream mixed breed. Until i got home and looked it up then i felt dumb.
  25. P-Line CX Premium. It is a very soft line which is perfect for spinning reels and its amazing for crankbaits and spinnerbaits. I use it for jigs and soft plastics when i am not using braid for grass or fluorocarbon for deep water say 15ft +
