  1. In tidal water pea gravel is the key.. Capt Mike
  2. That scenario is ideal for a clear intermediate line known as striper line from Orvis. The fly I would use would be a crawfish looking fly and place the fly on the rock ledge and let the sink line pull it down the ledge.. Deadly tactic is you learn to not pull the line. Just let the line do the movement. STRIP STRIKE hard.. This one is from Orvis but basically this is the pattern. Leader should be stout to handle the rocks. say 20 flouro..about 6 feet long. Capt Mike
  3. LGMOUTH And many more.. I use an 8 wt line but my customers will go up to 10 wt to get that way back in the woods LGMouth. It is just like hunting with stealth and quiet presicion to get that 5lb plus LGMouth. Capt Mike
  4. Waldorf MD is known for big haired women and so are my bugs.. Capt Mike
  5. A body in 1982 in DC Washington Channel. Used a crome blue back rattle trap. Hooked him in the scalp and had to tie him to the boat and drag him to the Police station 100 yards away. Capt Mike
  6. As a guide who does a lot of flyrod trips for largemouth I can honestly say. Big bugs equal big LGMouth. It is a blast to watch the flush and the strip strike. On the Potomac we use 8wt's and tarpon tapers to lay the Waldorf Hair Bugs in the sweet spot. Capt Mike
  7. Potomac river crappie Capt Mike
  8. I have guided with a fly rod for LGMouth Bass for 15 plus years now. It truly is my favorite style of fishing. Capt Mike
  9. Two rods needed: Flipping stick with rattleback 3/4 oz jig for cypress and any wood. Use a contrast craw as your pig. A ring worm with 1/2 oz t rig.. Fish as deep as posible in any strucure.. The fish will be way back in the woods. Capt Mike
  10. I would rig three rods. A small rattle trap to search for emerging grass and bucks. A c-rig with lizard for flats and pee gravel spots A wacko / no weight for any structure found. Pick it apart from there. Capt Mike
  11. Pinnapple gernade at Trash Point on the Potomac. Hooked it by the pin. I released it quickly. Capt Mike
  12. I fished Lake Montgomery back in the early 70,s around 1972 and it was much bigger then. In an old wooden boat that me and a guy who's name was Red had fished it for about a week. Red was about 75 years old then and only used a knuckle buster with dacron and a steel casting rod. I used a cane pole he made for me. (broomstick thick and 12 feet long) to shake scupernoil Creme worms in the holes around the trees. I can still smell those strawberry flavored worms. We kept every fish for him to eat regardless of size. Some where about 6 pounds. Oh the memory's Capt Mike
  13. I produced a map series seven years ago with two other fishing guides. Aireal photos from the 70's revealed a lot of structure unknown to most fisherman on the Potomac. Marked it all up with all the best spots and added the 12 months a year report for all three of us. Sold for 10 bucks and we had 6 each 10k runs of it sold. Would I pay 300 for a marked up map NO but then again I am out of the competive world of tourny fishing.. Capt Mike
  14. First Post guys.. I would like two days in Miami Canals for Peacock Bass and Cyclids on the fly. And Fat Alberts off the NC Coast... El Salto sounds good too. Capt Mike
