I have been getting them on top water actually the 130 medium size whopper plopper. And got one on a crank bait rat l trap
Ok I'll loosen up my drag and try that. I have my drag set pretty hard Bc I usually just go bassin and into thick weeds and just reel the bass straight in fast. I'll try and get a better hook set then lower he drag to not yank it out
So for the past month I have been targeting pike on local lake. I use a 7 ft 1 mojo bass baitcaster MH fast action rod. With abu Garcia inshore reel .. using 30# braid. My problem is I have hooked up to several pike but can never land any!! Anytime they get near my canoe I loose them and they throw the hook! Or give one last hard jerk under water and gone... any suggestions on how to stop this? Lost about 7 now
Hey everyone I just started using crankbaits (idk why so late) but what's everyone favorite crankbait to use! About to hit up the local cabelas and get cranking !
I have only been fishing for a year so I am still new , but I saw some guys catching northern at a local lake so I was going to give it a try
I was going with braided wire but I'm not sure what length or what pound I should get. I'm going to be throwing mostly spinnerbaits or inline spinners
Hey guys I looked on for the forums for this but came up short. I'm wondering what setup or leader is best for northern pike. I have a 7 ft MH fast action st.croix baitcaster. I'm trying to figure out what leader is best. The northern are not very huge where I'm fishing maybe 10 pounds. I don't need a huge leader Bc that will spook them Bc the water is clear. Anyone know the pounds or type of leader is good to get both strength but not be thick as cable ? Thanks !
Hello everyone , I'm somewhat a rookie fisherman still, been fishing for around a year. In the western New York location. Usually fish for large mouth and small mouth but hoping to get myself a true freshwater trophy pike or Muskie soon. Usually using a bait caster. Fish small lakes and ponds.
